Here's what I wrote in a NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD thread:

"So I caught Mark Hartley's follow-up to NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD the other night - it's called MACHETE MAIDENS UNLEASHED, and it looks at the thriving exploitation-movie industry in the Philippines throughout the '60s, '70s and '80s. Some of the movies were done by Filipino filmmakers (like Cirio H. Santiago) but a large percentage of the movie is dedicated to the women-in-prison pictures made by Roger Corman's New World Pictures. It's interesting and fun, and very much a companion piece to NQH - little nuggets of real-world history combined with behind-the-scenes anecdotes, colourful commentary (the very funny John Landis in for Tarantino) and many, many scenes featuring the unclad stars of the movies.

Oh, and Weng Weng, the inch-high private eye of FOR Y'UR HEIGHT ONLY. Once seen, never forgotten."

Oh FOR YOUR HEIGHT ONLY. I was so drunk when I saw you.

Yeah, I remember you posting about that Tommy. Like I said in the Not Quite Hollywood thread, I hope they got Vic Diaz in this follow up for an interview. He played many a villain in a bunch of Filipino exploitation movies.

Weng Weng is a delight. Growing up, I had a lot of Filipino friends and was introduced to a ton of old romantic comedies and exploitation films. Recently, a friend went back to the Philippines and asked what we wanted. Naturally, I asked for anything Weng Weng-related. He brought me back a DVD of The Impossible Kid (the sequel to For Your Height Only). I've yet to watch it, but you bet your ass the next time I have beer and friends in my house... I'll be popping that bad boy in my DVD player.

It'll be nice to see Eddie Romero get some recognition.

Yep, I recognize clips from the Blood Island Trilogy.

And Weng Weng of course.

But WTF was that flying furry vampire dude from?

This doc looks glorious.

Oh, Filipino ninja movies! What sweet childhood memories you evoke!

When's this hitting U.S. screens?

Saw it tonight. A blast. A lesser work than Not Quite Hollywood, but possibly that's tied to the source material. Aside from the Jack Hill women prison movies, there's not a lot of these I want to watch from beginning to end. Still, great little highlights collection.
