Those gifs just made me crack up all over again. The expression on Mac's face is priceless. He's just so damn pleased with himself.
My favorite part of the back cracking scene was the stuff about a 2x4. The fact that it has been used before and is about to be used again because their backs hurt too much.

Oh god, I hate to see this show becoming another one of those "Well, it's not nearly as funny as it used to be but it's still better than most tv out there!" shows. That's the same excuse that people who still watch The Simpsons use. This was not a very funny episode, folks.

I'm with Alex - the show is continuing its slide into mediocrity.

Oh, well, when you put it that way...

Come on- every potentially funny moment was done better by them before in previous episodes! The trannie, innuendo with Frank and Charlie, Mac's righteous indignation- even Dee gagging, as awesome of a sound as it is. They're trying to top themselves solely by getting more outlandish and offensive, which is simply impossible. Watch the first few seasons again and you won't recognize the characters... they've turned into cartoons.

It was funny but it was more of a setup for this week, that's why they needed an hour long premiere.

They have pretty much always been cartoon carachters.

That's an odd criticism to level at a show when its very first season featured all of the following: one character wearing a Nazi uniform while eating a banana; one late-20 something character going to a prom and doing an interpretive dance to "Forever Young"; another character being upset that he wasn't molested by his gym teacher; and another character hitting on women at an abortion rally.
I agree with Alex about the episode, but Mattioli is right about the progression of characters. This show strikes me as one of the more consistent series out there -- they have a few duds every year, a few great episodes, and the rest are all decent to very good. It's hard for me to favor any one season over another. Obviously that can change this year, but one mediocre episode doesn't have me worried.
There is a HUGE difference between Season 1 and 2. The rest of the series is pretty consistent.
Alex is spot-on. I still enjoy the show, but there's no denying the show is constantly trying to one-up itself, and it's not nearly as consistent as it used to be.

I'm waiting for the Mac and Charlie go to the Moon episode.
A Fear reference! Nice. Of all the movies featuring Reese Witherspoon getting fingered on a rollercoaster, they certainly picked the best one to mine for comedy.
If only they had called William Petersen "the guy from Manhunter" or To Live and Die in L.A.

Great wrap-up to the arc from last week. Charlie and Frank's bickering was classic, I almost died when he gave him the $10 bill at the strip club for the "group lapdance". Also, a lawyer in a fannypack.
"That's Marky Mark. That's what Marky Mark does!"

Charlie wearing the marriage certificate around his neck was outstanding. As was his discussion with Frank about custody of the elephant drawings.
Good wrap up. Charlie's creepy uncle was awesome.
Every time Uncle Jack asked to take a photo "for the website," I laughed so hard it hurt. And that final photo with the hands ... brilliance.
First, let me assure you all that strippers in Philly do not look anything like that.

My line of the night was from Frank: "Being married to Charlie is messing with my head. I gotta get my hetero on."

Although Uncle Frank asking Dee whether she'd touched the kids yet (as if it was fait acompli) almost killed me.
I hate to say it, but that may have been my least favorite Sunny ever. They're just not getting weird with it like I want them to.
You just saved me two bucks, sir!
Not the worst ever. But easily below a median-level episode of Sunny. Uncle Jack was the highlight.
Yeah, the last two while funny, were lesser episodes. Which brings me back to thinking it should have been a full hour long premiere. It would have flowed better. Plus they completly dropped Mac's storyline of fighiting Gay marrage.
A promo for this week's episode hints that it will have special guest star Don Swayze.

Hell yes.
Rumor has it that Tom Sizemore will be making an appearance this season, as well. WHAT?!?
I come for the shenanigans, I stay for the Steve Winwood references.
"The Implication" is one for the ages
The stuff with Mac and Dennis was fine. The stupid random trashing and smashing of yet another vehicle/living/work space is getting fucking tired. Move on, already.
I didn't care for this episode.
"Are you gonna hurt women?"

It had its moments, and it had Don Swayze.
The "implication" bits were pretty amazing
post #82 of 260
I thought this episode was the best of the season. Doc, I'd love to see a gif of Sweet Dee getting down with the crazy arms used car inflatable guy.

Well played, Doc. I owe you one (1) wine-in-a-soda-can.
Aside from the Dee-dancing-like-the-inflatable-guy stuff, I didn't crack a smile. Sunny's always been inconsistent, but a weak season so far.

Yeah, Dee dancing with the inflatable guy was the high point of the episode. But I did love how Mac called Dennis out on the boat when they thought they were the treats, "Is this how you want to make your girls feel?" And why would Dennis own Steve Winwood CDs? I know they were going for a Yacht Rock thing, but Dennis has a hard on for Rick Astley which is a far cry from Winwood.

I took it as being emblematic of his taste for terrible '80s music. Let's not forget about "Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack" where he puts "Higher Love" into the spin class instructor's cd player ("That's a gift for you, bumblebee.").
The Implications stuff and Dee dancing were pretty great. Especially that it was old rap music that Dee was dancing to."your patronizing me" was also pretty funny.

Most of the Charlie and Frank stuff didn't work though. Especially Frank going nuts with the sledge.

Still, best episode of the season.

Makes sense. Thanks.

This latest Dennis/Mac storyline hit "Season One" levels on the inappropriate-meter.

Part of me knew that the houseboat would have to be destroyed, since nothing can ever go right for these people on account of how awful they are, but part of me was hoping one or more of the characters would just be living on that decrepit houseboat for the rest of the series.

Loved Charlie finding the "horse tooth" and the bullet and quickly surmising that there must have been a horse massacre.

Yes! That part was great. Was it even a horse tooth? I thought he had just misidentified something. Also, I was dying when he said they should patent the key floaty.
Best episode of Sunny I have seen in awhile. That relieved look from Mac and Dennis when the girls walk had me laughing greatly. Cue the Higher Love.
so fucking stoked for the next episode, it guest-stars the funniest radio show in existence: Preston & Steve from The Preston & Steve Show.

Check them out before they become huge after this next episode.
This last episode was a grower not a shower.
The episode kind of went the way you'd expect it to - of course they're going to sink the boat! - but the "implication" stuff was as classic as it gets. Mac's reaction was priceless.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't hold my breath for two WMMR DJs to hit big. And haven't they been in a couple of episodes already?

I loved that Mac got so into it he had an evil grin on his face as they walked back to the boat. So much that Dennis looked freaked out.
