Hey, i love horror movies...but im not an expert i think, and with such new movies like "cabin fever" and "wrong turn" on the way, im wondering whats this "70s-style horror" everyone talks about? i mean... i want a list so i can get into it , ill start with the only ones i know that i think fits the category... Last House on the left, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, Deliverance (not horror...but..)...

Cmon guys, i want to catch this cabin fever thing from the 70s! help me up its very expensive to get import dvds from here , so ill pretty much try getting the rips from the internet...and just buy the best ones!

Cheers from brazil, and feels very good to step aboard wink (have no idea if its right or mean anything hehe hope u get the idea)

That's Suspiria, not Suspria. Normally wouldn't nitpick, but it might complicate things for this guy.

Thanks a lot for the replies folks

Well most the movies listed i know already, some of them i really like (dawn, the fog, suspiria...) , what i really trying to know is: How can i get in the mood to see cabin fever and wrong turn... since the only movie i know from the 70s that i can relate to them is "texas chainsaw massacre" i mean, is that all? the other one is evil dead (80s) with the cabin and isolation thing etc ... so i dont know where this 70s horror style thing came from just because of "texas..."? so theres no other example? thats my point wink i want some examples of that same atmosphere from texas and evil dead, i think thats what they mean by "70s style" in cabin fever and wrong turn, am i right?

Well and im already downloading black christmas now cause of u and have cancelled my spit on your grave hehe

See ya

Hey Gabriel, welcome ...

The decade of the 70's is by far my favorite for horror, so I'll start with some of the more low budget faves of mine:

BEYOND THE DOOR
DERANGED
THREE ON A MEATHOOK
HOUSE OF WHIPCORD ( a must see ) TOURIST TRAP

... and soultaker mentioned ALICE SWEET ALICE which is a great film ...

These are frightening and excellent films...
THE SENTINEL
BURNT OFFERINGS
TRILOGY OF TERROR (an anthology with one excellent vignette called "Prey")

and btw THE BEYOND is not a 70s film...

You've probably seen it but I'll list it anyway:

Jaws

Philip Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Says more about the seventies than most films of that era.

Ooops and don't forget The Wicker Man and Don't Look Now.

Superior.

I've only seen bits and pieces, but Charles Kaufman's Mother's Day.
