So during my lunch break I was fooling around in the CHUD members list, sorting by name, date and post count.

1st Message Board member is unsurprisingly Nick Nunziata, who joined 12/19/1999.

Of the first 20 members, only four continue to post regularly: Nick, Carl Cunningham, Micah Robinson, and RyanC.

Notable Chewers who joined within the first 100 members and whom still regularly post:

I am the 142nd member (Top 150 woot!).

And, unless anyone can find someone to top it, Princess Kate has the highest average posts per day with 21.

And we lost a bunch of posts in the various site updates, so the post counts would probably be higher.

Yeah, I hit 10,000 post twice in my tenure here. My post count would actually be higher if I weren't constantly editing. In long discussion threads. I rather make multiple comments in one post as I read through the thread than to post whore and make several comments one after another.

It's sort of a weird curiosity, but I wish there was some way to dig up the boards circa 9/11. So many posters are/were in/around New York City, it'd be fascinating to see a first-hand account play out.

Because so many news sites were jammed up, a lot of us were getting news/rumors here as people heard them. If I remember correctly, I think there was even a sub-forum for a few months afterward dedicated to 9/11 and the aftermath.

I managed to find the second 9/11 thread one day via Wayback or some other archive, but the initial thread -- innocuously named "Plane crashes into World Trade Center" because that's all it was in the beginning -- seems to have vanished into the ether. It was a fascinating read, because it was real time -- it went from "What a dumbass, can't steer his private jet away from a big goddamn building" to "Holy shit, it was a jumbo jet" to "Holy shit, there's another one!" You could feel the rising dread as you read it. Some tempers flared but were quickly calmed, and the overall tone was one of people just needing somewhere to not be alone that day.

Yeah, I remember there was a NYC Chewer roll call as we one by one popped in to let everyone know we were okay. It was kinda my first real taste of how supportive the CHUD community was (and is) and the outpour of sympathy and worry for us felt genuine.
