Oh my god same. I'm world building for a novel at the moment actually, this would be utterly invaluable.

I must have it. Seriously Rich cheers muchly for the heads-up that this even exists.

ETA: for those of you that way inclined, you can apparently get an iPhone app of this as well.

ETA2: ...aaand bought. Grabbed both the European and World ones as folded maps. Even with postage from the UK they were really bloody cheap. Fantastic. I'm actually really excited for them to arrive now.

Heraldwolf's Stone? Yeeaahhh, that's where I'm going to say I live from now on. Badass.

Holy shit, just noticed the world map has the planets on it.

From henceforth London is now "Unfordable River Town." It just sounds cool.
Henforth the River Severn shall only be known as Darkwater cos then I can be a pirate. And Oxenford sounds way better than Chepstow.

It's ok, I've only seen seasons 1 and 2. When people give me shit I just remind them I live here, in the 200 mile prison system.

Yeah, weird. It's almost like there should be some sort of annotation or, I don't know, link to a cite explaining how the names were derived. Maybe even have it in the original post. Oh, wait...

"Town of the People by the Trespassing River" is almost too poetic to be in New Jersey.

I try to avoid clicking links at work, and just stick to CHUD and HUFFPO instead. I did click this one after you suggested I do so though, and it's interesting

I'm sad that my part of the country does not have a name according to the Atlas though

Hmm... Did anyone else notice that the Yucatan Peninsula is the land of I Don't Understand You?

That's because when the Spanish asked what it was called, the indians replied "Yuc-ahk-atahn" (my understanding of the correct pronunciation) meaning "WTF are you saying? We don't speak your language"

Just noticed that somewhere in the British Isles is a place called "Awesome Mountain." NEED TO GO THERE.

Where abouts is that I can't see it on the map, I guess it's ether Snowdonia or somewhere in Scotland.

Edited to add I just noticed that Newcastle is still called Newcastle but below Blackpool we have Muddypool.

If you scroll down, the third to last image is a map of the very north of Scotland. Awesome Mountain is just above the town of Assembly Field.

If I'm looking at that map and a topographic map of Scotland correctly, the mountain's actual name is Ben Wyvis.
Ah got it, looks like your right it is Ben Wyvis

Apparently I live in "Fighter's Estate" -- no doubt one of the many rewards I've earned from all that grinding and spawn camping.

China does NOT really mean Riceland, does it? They snuck a joke one in on that one, right?

As far as I know it doesn't. Its Chinese name means Middle Country and its western name comes from the Chin kingdom that first unified the country, I think. Although I could be wrong since I only know about ten Chinese words.

If it's a joke it's a pretty shitty one.

From the sample, it looks like Thunder Bay (area where I'm from) is "Thunder Bay".

Heh.

Anyone know what Tucson AZ is?
It is too low on the samples presented. Someone may have a better version.
Though I pretty sure it's something like Whitey Brownhater.

I believe it's "black base", or alternately "Go Zendejas!"

Hehehe. Anywaaays...I know it was too low. I was curious if anyone had gotten the maps and could tell me.

ETA: Quick Google search gave me Stook-zone, meaning water at the foot of black mountain.

Now I'm curious what the Atlas has for it.
Derrrr...sorry about that.
Well my maps just arrived today so I can looks stuff up for you fellas if you're interested when I get home tonight.
