Chew

Anyone else reading this? I have the first two trades and it is a pretty fun series I have to say. Basic premise:
Quote:
Tony Chu is a cop with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he's a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn't mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. It`s a dirty job, and Tony has to eat terrible things in the name of justice. And if that wasn`t bad enough, the government has figured out Tony Chu`s secret. They have plans for him… whether he likes it or not.
To add to the premise, it is set shortly in the future when all poultry has been outlawed and the FDA is now the most powerful law enforcement agency in the country.

Series can be bizarre and yet kind of touching at times. From John Layman and Rob Guillory. Nice pick up if you are looking for something different and fun.

A friend gave me the first trade for Christmas last year, and I thought it was okay. It's a weird concept, and I don't think the creative team quite pulled it off as well as they could, but I've only read the one story arc so far, so maybe it gets better. The artwork could have been a bit better, as there were times when I had a little trouble following the action. Overall, though, it was a decent little diversion. I do want to read more, but right now I'm not in much of a hurry.
