The forums will just feel emptier without Devins presence, since hes been such a prolific fixture on these boards since I first joined. Yea more Nick is always great. Nicks definetly the funniest writer of film, so as long as hes here there will always be a reason to be around. His review of Torque still kills me.

Whoa man. I've been reading this site since my first year of middle school, and I'm about to start my second year of college, so this is like losing a really neat uncle that goes on trips and sends me postcards every day.

Seriously, I've been growing up with you, as Chud was always my homepage or first bookmark on anything I owned with internet. I'm really shocked and sad. Just as you were breaking into the mainstream with that Twilight Inception article.

DUDE, your best article on chud didn't even relate to movies! That trip you took recently to the underground bone-cave was just awesome, and made me love your voice even more.

Whether I was just growing up emulating your taste or coincidentally ending up sharing it, we enjoy all the same things, so I couldn't have asked for a better film/game/tv/life/book/life critic.

So late to the Respect-Fest, the haters already started the derail attempt. Fuck em, I'm going anyway: one more infrequent mostly anonymous poster checking in.

Devin, you've developed a unique voice that's sure to be sorely missed around here, especially from the front page. As others have said, the number of smaller films you've turned me onto that'd otherwise have slipped right by is staggering; though you can make trashing the overblown crap fun to read like few others are able, you've also embraced the most important aspect of criticism -- the championing of the deserving but less-heralded new artist -- for which I am (along with many others) deeply grateful.

Not to mention your interview skills have become some seriously hot shit the past few years.

Can't wait to find out what your new endeavor is. Continued journalism/criticism, but elsewhere? Full-time AOTS gig, or similar TV work? Or a lateral move into the business? I don't think there's a Chewer breathing who wouldn't love to find out what Devin's "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" would be...

Whatever your next step is, congratulations, and best of luck. Looking forward to it.

If you need validation so badly that you create a thread to say you're leaving, and then take umbrage with people who did not really think that highly of you... you have issues that I can't help you with, but that's neither here nor there.

The guy was the main editor and writer for the site for almost a decade. You don't think he needs to let people know he's leaving the site? A site many people come to read his stuff?

We "bootlickers" are licking boots because we've gained a benefit from reading the site. A handful of good film recommendation that you otherwise wouldn't have known about, or perhaps discounted as "not your thing" is a wonderful thing...regardless of the source.

I like to think that every time Devin is called an asshole, somebody watches a movie that they wouldn't normally have watched as a result of his bringing it to their attention. The ratio has to be about 1:1. And there's probably a hell of a lot of overlap there too.

I don't have any hatred for the guy, but he's been a douchebag for years with a lot of people on the boards.

Devin is a great writer, and he pointed me toward a lot of great movies. But he got away with a lot of shit he wrote on the boards because he's an employee. Simple as that. Remember tha ultra competant employee you have in the office who's a total asshole but will work there because he's great as his job?

I never cared about his attitude until he told us to casually fuck off when I asked him why the management never admitted/apologized for that virus/malware debacle in the Ads when it infected my computer despite having good security.

So if that makes me "obsessed" with him in your little dogpiling mind, so be it.

I'll still read Alex and David Oliver's great articles, like I did before. Hopefully they'll be more recognized for it now. And they're upstandard guys to the boot on the boards.
