Well this snuck up on me. I didn't realize it was premiering so soon (September 17).
I'll give anything Genndy's involved with a shot.

I hadn't heard a peep about this. Between this and Young Justice, it looks like CN has another bumper crop of good stuff coming our way.

I'm kinda looking forward to the MAD animated series as well. Spy vs. Spy always brings a grin to my face.

Yeah I saw the commercial for the MAD toons and was like F' yeah!

Yeah, this should be pretty good. Just happened to dig out my Samurai Jack DVDs the other day and was thinking how there needs to be more shows like it. Hadn't heard of a MAD cartoon show, but that's definately going on the DVR rec list along with Brave and the Bold, Young Justice, Clone Wars, and Avengers on Disney XD.

Odd Creature, here is the promo for the MAD animated series. The fact that each segment has a different look to it makes me feel somewhat optimistic about the show, but judge for yourself.

Here's the Titan fighting a robot Hydra:

And I don't know what's going on with the Samurai Jack movie. Hopefully it's still in development.

Rain Dog, the image you got on "so" is my favorite of the bunch. So beautiful.
One of my favorite guys working in animation right now. Bar none.

I don't. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the series, but the possibilities for a proper sequel died with Mako. Aku is not a role that you re-cast.
well that was pretty awesome, one of the best big transformation scenes, I just hope this holds up after a couple episodes, and not a "big monster appears, form sym-bionic titan, become more accepted in school/become more avoided in school" type of deal.

Totally dug the animation.
Totally impressed. Loved the CW-ish 90210treehill television show clip. I was actually laughing out loud with the kid who couldn't read.

This show has humor. A pretty good story going for it.. and some awesome artwork. The stills are beautiful.

You also gotta give credit to the music. The guy's guitar theme music as he entered the cafeteria was top notch.
That was so damn great. Genndy hasn't lost his touch when it comes to cinematic animation. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Man, this was super-cool. Totally worthy successor to SAMURAI JACK.

Music is by Tyler Bates-- he did all of Zack Snyder's films, among others.
I liked it a lot, but I'm worried it will fall into familiar formula as stated above. Though they've introduced a few different arcs already so as long they develop more than an invader of the week, I'll stick with it.

The highschool stuff actually had some of the best moments. Like the slo mo SLOPPY JOE KICK and Octus scanning the class room. It'll be interesting to see if they do anything with the General Steel/Galactic Guardian Group rivalry.
Anyone know if this airs in Canada?
Sadly, I haven't seen anything mentioned about it airing on YTV or Teletoon. So your best bet is watching it by "other means".

One more argument for separation.

This show just looks great in general.
In the second episode, the house and the suburbs looked terrific. I also liked the scene where Lance catches up to the bus.
Barb the Neighbor Lady hitting on Octus was awesome. Also, the Mall stuff was sublime. That 80s bedroom set w/waterbed and "Jerk Store" were great sight gags.
This show looks so good it's amazing. Anyone else get a Matsumoto vibe from the character design?
Die Hard allusion for the win. This show is nuts!
I hate you all.
I had no plans on watching this show (I was already older when all those Transformers, Voltron stuff was popular, so I was never a fan), but while waiting for the Season 3 Premiere for Clone Wars, I saw a promotion that said Genndy was involved, so I gave it a try.

I'm glad I did! Count me a fan! The typical Genndy style action along with the high school stuff and sight gags...this is a fun show!
Love the animation and the show as a whole is starting to grow on me. Genndy has one of those styles that is a constant reminder of how great hand-drawn 2D animation can be.

I watched the Fast and the Furious episode. It has some really over the top car chases that are more interesting than anything in those movies. I also had to laugh at the lightning quick BRUTALITY of the monster fight at the end.

BROKEN FINGER!
followed by
SEVERED ARM!
followed by
BITCH SLAPPING THE MONSTER WITH HIS OWN SEVERED ARM!
followed by
PUNCH TO THE KNEE!
followed by
FLYING THROUGH THE MONSTER'S GUT!

I'm surprised they got away with that.

I don't know if the show is planning on going serial enough with the storyline for this, but based on the last episode, I'm willing to bet Lance's father is on Earth and working with the Galactic Guardian Group.

Also, did anyone else think that monster was basically CLOVERFIELD? Looked quite similar to me.

And yeah, ObiJuan, that DIE HARD riff in the previous ep was amazooooo!
I post about the awesomeness of the 2D animation and then they go and have to produce a great car chase sequence that blends 2D and 3D animation perfectly. (Although to be fair, this show uses a lot more 3D than Samurai Jack.)
As a fan of Tartakovsky I've been disappointed so far. I don't think the the 3-D animation blends well with the 2-D. The character design and action fail to thrill. At it's worst it's too self-aware, and trying too hard to be cute or clever.

I do like the scope of the show, the way they cut back to what's going on on the main characters' home planet every once in a while. Brian Posehn's voice work for the robot is good.
Really really enjoyed this latest episode. Provided an origin of sorts for Lance, added more fuel to the fire that Lance's dad is probably on Earth, and, at least for me, made me very curious what caused the General to go all evil all while showcasing yet again amazing animation and just oozing style.
Shake it fake it booty quake it Roll it around!

Greatest animation EVER. From the cheerleader stripper dance hip hop song to the Hardcore Growl fest rock band.. this is worthy of a soundtrack. NOW.
This show is incredible fun.
Yeah, the entire season has been fun. But that episode was glorious.
Yeah, I was pretty shocked to find myself invested in their relationship. That the stripper dance was actually kinda hot in that Spumco way and she's a ginger probably helped.

Season finale last night. Another great episode. I hope this continues as soon as Genndy and team can crank them out.
was the end supposed to be an homage to Inspector Gadget's Dr Claw?

That season flew by. I didn't realize FORTRESS OF DECEPTION was the finale. It was a solid action episode. I liked how Lance was fighting like IP MAN. And they should have just shown the shadowy guy. It has to be Lance's father, right?
Has to be. For a while I thought Solomon would be, but since he didn't recognize Lance, or his fighting style, he can't be.

I figure Lance's father stepped through the gateway thing, ended up on Earth and found a world populated by humans that was entirely unequipped to deal with any sort of hostile alien invasion, so he created the Galactic Guardian Group and has spent the last ten years or so equipping and training them. The life support thing he seems to be in is due to the effects of going through the gateway unprotected. [/nerd]

I liked seeing Octus be a badass for once, too. I wish the fight between him and Solomon had been able to go a bit longer. (Also the fake name Solomon used was 'Kane.' As in 'Solomon Kane.')
Yes, to pretty much everything you fellas said. Great ep. Didn't know it was a finale. I concur with your theories, Fafhrd.

I can't get enough of the Titan's bladed weapons launching from the hip as a little cylinder!
I must say, considering when I first saw this show advertised I thought it was just a big robot fighting show and had no intentions of watching it. it has turned into one of my favorite new shows, animated or live action!

I especially loved the end of the episode where that girl who was studying with the robot is walking home, "floating on air," as the Symbiotic Titan battles another foe in the background with "Space Age Love Song" playing. This show is a great mix of sci-fi action and teen drama/comedy.
Just wondering, if that last episode was the finale even though the season was supposed to be 20 eps does that mean this series is in trouble?

I heard that the Powerpuff Girls movie (much as I liked it) had essentially bombed. So does this mean Genndy Tartakovsky might be losing his clout?
It isn't a season finale. The season is 20 episodes, the next ten air are airing early next year.

EDIT: Also it's pulling numbers almost the same as CLONE WARS, which is a flagship show for the network.
Quick heads up. They start showing new episodes on Wednesday, February 2, at 7 PM. Good thing my kid watched the CN this weekend, or i would have been clueless. Why the change in night and time? Who knows.

I figured some of the viewers might not now it's back so soon.

I'm glad in last night's premiere they addressed the whole "but you're a robot" thing.  I have a soft spot for antagonists that become protagonists and I hate to think that eventually Kimmy will be hurt.

Yes...I just typed the above about an animated show on Cartoon Network.

Shit. This shows does high school drama better than the CW. One of the best episodes of Tv this week.

Dug the shot of Kimmy standing up in the Jeep while massive explosions tore up the woods in the distance.  Yep, good episode!
