So lets analyse this Ryan.....
You can be in one of two movies.
One (JC2) has a moderate fan base, but the original got very mixed reviews. it ws fairly low budget, and had actors of little name recognition.
Or....
You can be in a movie with 2 of horrors most notable icons. The budget for advertising along will likely dwarf the other films entire produtction cost many times over. Robert Englund, a househol name in Horror and Sci-Fi circles, is in this film, and it will likley hit 2 to 3 times the number of screens.... and stay in theatres quite a few weeks longer.
I really don't see much choice here. |
Heh, heh...well, all Monica and her agent really weighed was the $$$. Plain and simple, my man, that's all it came down to. How much she was gonna get for the role in JC II.
I'm not sure about the screen thing. MGM is just a big a heavyweight as New Line and they'll most likely release both films on a equal amount of screens.
Other cons to think about when considering starring in "Freddy vs. Jason": there hasn't been a Freddy film in nearly 10 years (the last two didn't do so hot) and Jason X not only sucked but diminished quickly at the box office.
In any case, Monica was seriously interested, but her "representation" wasn't pleased with the dough. That's all there is to it.
(And before we make this a "F vs. J" and "JC II" conversation...let's hold all talk until both films are on screen in August.)
**And another thing**
We rolled cameras in June and wrapped in August. "Freddy vs. Jason" began photog in November. She could've been in TWO horror franchises and made enough money to chill for a year or two.
