Thank You Nick and Chud.

With all the man love (justifiably so) poring out for Devin since he announced his departure I just wanted to start a thread to spread some love Chud's way.

This place is awesome and I am thankful for it on a daily basis.
Its a great place and I appreciate all the hard work Nick and the crew here at Chud do.

Thanks guys!
I have been reading the site since 2003. This is by far the best movie site on the internet. Thank you for the news, laughs, and entertainment you bring to me everyday.
I have to add my myself to the list of people who are awed daily by CHUD! I support it so much I am posting this message of support at 3 45 am. No other site is worth that kind of effort, IMHO
post #5 of 72
Here, here! I love this place. Thanks Nick!
This is the ONLY site I go to for movie news and that's all thanks to the atmosphere that Nick has engendered. He's the heart and soul of this place and as long as he's still here so am I.

You've done a stellar job so far Nick, I'm sure you'll continue to do so.
Nick has no soul. He sold it in exchange for an original The Manitou poster signed by Tony Curtis.
Well yeah, but who wouldn't?
Every time I post here I like to think of it as giving CHUD a cyber reach around.
CHUD = greatness. Looking forward to the new stuff!
Adding to the love. Excelsior Nick and Gang.
Having been lucky enough to meet the man in person I can comfortably say Nicks the very definition of 'good people'. The fact he's also a fantastic writer and the reason the only website I visit without fail daily daily outside of my gmail exists helps too.
Nick Nunziata, I thank you and all that work on...CHUD.COM,...the greatest website on the net. Seriously, I have been reading CHUD, since the beginning, and that is where I go for info on anything of interest. I of course also, love posting with a great collection of...Chewers, from around the world.
CHUD is the best Movie Discussion Forum ever. On the whole the people here are funny, insightful and reasonable in their opinions. Qualities that are rare indeed on other message boards. I go to comingsoon for more regular movie info updates though.

It also spawned the B-Action Thread. The most comprehensive source of Action movie info ever (e.g Mel Gibson's Lethal Weapon 3 Diaries, Erix's Seagal interviews). If you want to know anything about DTV movies, its hidden there somethere. Lots of gems.
Wait ... I should have said "no homo".
I "discovered" this site around 2003 and haven't looked back since. Excellent writing, a robust sense of humor and movie news that matters to me.

A few years later, I became part of the community and discovered that I'm in some very intelligent and fun company.

I'm here to stay.

Long live Chud.
I really appreciate all of the effort CHUD and the Chewers put into making this a worthwhile internet stop. I'm not tooting my own horn (it was only a couple dollars) but I finally clicked that "donate" button and gave back a bit. I'm employing the "every little bit helps" attitude on this one (because all I have is a "little bit") so hopefully a few folks that have never given it a second thought will follow my lead.

Thanks CHUD!
I've been posting at CHUD for a third of my life. CHUD is truly Nick's baby, starting out as an email newsletter, then a website, and then a message board form. I came for the movies news, but stayed for the snark. All other sites are pants. Thanks, Nick! You don't get appreciated enough for all the hard work you've put in to create this playground for us. People need to respect that.
First - thanks, Ken, for creating a thread that is fostering more positivity in the midst of all the negative vibes being spread around Devin's departure.

Second, another heap of thanks thrown at Nick and CHUD. This is such a fantastic movie site. It's an integral part of my morning ritual. The perfect mix of news, humour, personality, and spirit - it's those elements that elevate CHUD above other movie sites, in my opinion.

And special thanks to Nick. He's the reason why this site exists and continues to exist. And I certainly can't thank him enough for giving a hack like me a chance to write for CHUD in any form. Keeping up a blog on CHUD is one of the highlights of my week. I enjoy it immensely, and it kind of fuels my dream that I could one day be a main page contributor.

This is just such a great place to be. It feels like home.

So, thank you Nick! And thank you CHUD!

You mean all of the four haters that posted in that thread? With all due respect, aside from those guys the rest of this has been pretty circle-jerky.
To be fair, those four haters have been raising enough of a stink to diminish all the circle jerking, as you put it. All I keep reading about in the "I'm Leaving" thread is a bunch of angry arguments.
Without question the best movie news website on the net. I bounced around reading things from other sites until the day I stumbled onto Chud. Thank you Nick and everyone else for helping to waste many a boring day.
I'm not seeing how the rage is outweighing the praise, other than people just letting it get to them more than they should and diving in to join the firing squad with their own righteous indignation. Most of those dudes were already put on TIME OUT, except for Ben Thomas, whose post REALLY wasn't as deserving of such a disproportionate response as being told to "get fucked and die". I know Devin's dismayed about the negative reactions, and I can't blame him, but dude's admittedly a divisive figure and I'm sure he had some inkling that people were going to come out of the woodworks and bash him. Considering how many people have gotten supremely pissed off at him before for whatever reason, I'm honestly surprised that there's not more vitriol.

But hey, I'm just going to go back to my previous stance of "I'm cool with Devin, I learned a lot of shit from his writing as well as the boards and saw a bunch of movies that I probably never would have given a chance, and I wish him the best".
CHUD.com is definitely my favorite movie site on the Internet. I've been reading the main page and the boards since about November 2005, and joined the following January because I found this place to be fun and informative.

Many thanks to the man who realized this place, Mr. Nick Nunziata, as well as the rest of the CHUD Crew for continuing to bring quality articles to the main page, and the mods who keep the message board, the best damn message board in the entire Internet.

It was very cool getting to contribute (however poorly) to the main page and I'm still thankful to Nick for the opportunity and Anderson/Eileen/JG and everyone else on the writing side of things for their help. If a schmo like me can do it, guys such as yourself and Don shouldn't have any problems.
I still can't believe I'm allowed to put articles on CHUD's main page. It's a privilege just to read this site.
I totally love you, Nick Chudlind!!
Yes, you should continue your diatribe in here. Good call.
Agree with the thread starter. I started visiting this site in 2001 or 2002 I believe and since that time I've kept coming here almost every day for my movie news.

On top of that when Nick visited Vancouver a few years back and a fellow movie buff friend of mine and I hung out with Nick one night and toured the city - he was even kind enough to buy us drinks! Nick, you are a gentleman and a scholar; keep up the great work in making this a community!
My first stop of the day, and my favourite place to hang out. I don't see that changing any time soon.

Since the beginning? I've gravely miscalculated Duke Fleed's age.

*pats chud on the bum*

good game chud...good game

oh you too nick!!
Great place to hang out. Way too easy to waste time I should spend working.
Jimmy Cokes, I have said before, I am...42. I have been reading...CHUD.COM, since it was a...Website. I did not know of it before.
CHUD is my only bookmarked entertainment site on the Web. The writing is great, and the snark is better. You guys all work hard & it's great to read not just the articles, but also the really insightful, hilarious message boards.

Keep it up CHUD! I heart you.
A story from back in the day:
I stumbled upon the site, read some articles, and then bet a girl that somethings were going to happen in a movie.

Yes, CHUD got me laid. So yes, props, but I don't know if I can give a website a beer.

Actually, Sam... I can believe that you're on the front page. You're pretty damn good. This is going to sound corny, but you're one of the inspirations for me wanting to be a contributor.

And Ken - It would be a great day if we both got to realize that dream.

I just like to say to Nick that the CHUD Messageboard remains the best place in the internet to discuss movies at.

Brilliant, thought provoking articles and reviews. CHUD has taught me to be more discriminate of the films I watched. To be more critical of them and enlightened me to better lesser known films out there. The reboot has brought many positive things to the site (e.g Improved Search Engine) and quite a few minor hiccups (e.g Slow posting, Quote tags difficult to see) but I still love you guys and hope CHUD will pull through.

I do notice...that traffic has been a little slow since the reboot. A lot of our more famous posters have appeared less frequently and their imput has been missed. Whats happened? Has site issues turned them off?

For infecting my computer with a virus last week, thank you Nick and CHUD!

Do you blame your dick when you infect someone with AIDS?

No. But keep telling yourself you ain't the problem. People left the boards because the redesign sucks and it's full of problems. And it's a haven for VIRUSES. And negativity, apparently.

Yes. They've said as much on Facebook. Many have tried to post and can't, while others have been avoiding due to the virus issues. I've definitely reduced my posting because its more difficult to do so, but I still try and check in every day.

Thanks Diva. Hopefully Nick can sort things out.

For all Chud's staffing & site issues, the one good thing that's come out of it is that Nick is contributing to the main site more.  It was his writing that brought me to Chud and his writing that will keep coming back.

I started not being able to post at work because of the functionallity. After a month, i just don't feel like logging in from there. Specially with another virus looming. But i'm still around.

My lack of posting is entirely due to technical bugs and such. Has nothing to do with content.

On a more positive note, managing change is very hard, and now with several prominent ex-CHUD writers staking their claim elsewhere on the net, it seems like it's only gotten harder. As a filmgeek, I don't think we've ever been better served (with films and with writing about films) than today. So I'm happy to see the site evolve and not sit still. I'll be honest, I read and post on other sites. I like BAD and /film. But CHUD is still an original and, amazingly enough, ahead of the curve in a lot of ways.

So here's to CHUD and Nick's ability to surprise, enlighten and entertain.

The bottom line is, even though the messageboards are their own thing, they still rely on the main page to drive traffic and conversation.  The main page is unattractive and unnavigable, and the boards are a pain in the butt.  I love chud, but at this point, I don't even know if the content is any good, because it's too hard to get at it.

There are PLENTY of threads where you are welcome and encouraged to say thing like this.  Let the one thread that's devoted to being nothing but positive stay that way, please.

I haven't been around as much because I've been busy. I'll be honest, I can't get viruses, so another reason is that it has just been difficult for me to break into conversations around here. I know this is a somewhat insular community, so I haven't taken it to heart.

At this point, it's either give up the ghost, or dig my heels in, and I'm still deciding what to do. I'm considering just starting a long-term thread with my general interests in film. Even if I'm way off base in my musings, maybe I can spark some conversation.

Either way, I just want to say that I love this website. I've always been a little more interested in film analysis than my friends, but the content here really tipped the scales. I don't think I would understand half as much (however much that is) about movies had I not stumbled upon the intriguing articles and excellent conversations which happen here at CHUD.

I haven't had any problems at all with viruses from here, so I've been really lucky. Other than that. Still here, not going anywhere. Still blogging, and now along with Erix and HunterTarantino, contributing to the main page once a week via The B-Movie Column. I love this place, and have made many friends on here. I've said it many times before, but I do check out other sites. However, this is the only place that I feel like contributing to the discussion, because this is the only place that I see things worth discussing.

Don't see anything wrong with the main page. I think it's pretty easy to navigate.

Truth. The film discussions are a joy to read. I don't really go to CHUD for up to date film news (I get that from Comingsoon) but I love reading about film on the messageboards here. The posters are intelligent, insightful and have taught me a lot about film as well.

I did notice something though. Thanks to our improved search engine, I've been reading some of our old Threads.

1) Our Kurt Wimmer ULTRAVIOLET Thread reached 15 PAGES long. Mindboggling to say the least.

2) A lot of old posters have dissapeared since 2009. Or maybe they've just changed their names. Wonder where they've gone?
