It's interesting to watch this film in the context of the time, the furor it caused is probably more exciting than the actual film, leading to the creation of the production code.
It's relatively tame by today's standards, the fierce performance by Barbara Stanwyck as a woman who uses her sexuality as a way of getting up the corporate ladder is probably the only thing that saves it, when one guy asks if she's had any experience, she respond's 'Plenty' but the way she says it is just sexy as hell. She moves through the film like a shark, I wouldn't be surprised if Sharon Stone watched this film multiple times before playing Catherine Tramell.
John Wayne also turns up in a small supporting role, the film isn't particularly remarkable and it's sexual politics are incredibly suspect but Barbara makes it watchable.
