Guess Devins New Gig

Thread Starter
I believe he is replacing Roger Ebert and instituting a ratings system based on Fuck You’s out of Ten.
Movieline, some sort of travel based writing. Related to movies.

Ebert's new jaw.

On my way to hell, see y'all on the bus.

He is going to be in the starring role in a remake of Waterpower directed by Kevin Smith

If everyone keeps their mouth shut, this won't be answered for a couple of months. Good luck guessing!

New Nolan Batman villain. The Critic.

The next American Idol Judge.

"NAMBLA At The Movies!"

My official guess is that he is moving to print journalism, and I'd suspect TIME or NEWSWEEK. I have a number of reasons for this determination, and will share them if anyone is curious.

PS Back up guess LA TIMES or NY TIMES, but if my back up guess turns out to be right I don't win, I just get a sense of satisfaction. Only my official guess really counts

Zach Galifianakis' Beard's stand in.

Ghostwriter for Stephen King's EW column.

Devin convinced a drug addled Bob Weir that he's zombie Jerry Garcia, they're starting "The Grateful Undead".
If he was going to review movies for a paper he could probably stay here too, right? My guess is he's going to walk the earth, like Caine.
I actually know, I will invisi-text it below

He recently agreed to adopt me. He will be my new parents. Both of them.

This will be his new role.

Replacing Claudia Winkleman as the new host of Film 2010.

Seriously how do you go from Johnathan Ross to a bimbo?

No, I assume they'd want him to be part of their web presence. Papers (and TIME and NEWSWEEK) are looking to pull in younger readers, and Devin's success as a web 2.0 phenomena would be seen as an asset on that front.

NEWSWEEK especially is going through a crisis, and has shed alot of staff. However it's recently been purchased by a recluse billionaire and so is trying to rebuild. This is why NEWSWEEK and TIME are my official guesses, though as stated my unofficial back up guesses are NTY and LAT

Claudia's not without her charms.

If this were a poll and not a guessing thread, that suggestion would get my vote. It'd instantly be the best movie show on TV.

Well, he said it was a result of a life-changing experience with SJR at a Big Boy.

I'm guessing male prostitute.
New gig, Anderson, not side-job.
Worst case scenario: USA Today's new online reviewer. "TRANSFORMERS 3 changed the way I looked at movies."

Best case scenario: Director of Programming on IFC.

I guess Tati and I are the only ones who check out Devin's Formspring account.

And Kate remains completely immune to reality.
And you remain to have a hateboner for her instead of just fucking blocking her and getting on with life, which is what everyone else did.
Nordling's mention of IFC makes me wish Devin would knock Ben Mankiewicz the hell off of TCM.

I don't think he'd simply leave one website for another. My money is on some print outlet with a web presence.
I initially misread that post and thought you were advocating a chiropractor/princess unholy union. Unnerving.

Devin's new gig: Replacing Tyra Banks on America's Next Top Model.

Replacing Rothman in FOX.

Nah, I admit if the conservative hate-fuck thread were still going strong that many moons ago that might have been an option but now it's more of a bemused curiosity of how batshit insane it will get.

I know this was a joke but it still creeped me the fuck out.

Is he going on Jersey Shore?
A couple months!?
Hosting/co-hosting his own G4 show.

My sources indicate he is working with Christopher Nolan on Inception 2: Dream Warriors
post #35 of 428
Few people know that Devin was once the world's second best deep-core driller. When Harry Stamper died, he became #1.

NASA just asked him to save the world, and he couldn't say no.

*wailing sax*
New host for Between two ferns at Funnyordie.
Twitter did this better.
The world is rife with Fabfunk(s) ... and Devin's just the man to exterminate them all... WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE.
Taking over for Mankiewiecz on TCM, I'll take as a longshot.
A while ago Ebert blogged that he in the process of putting together a new TV show with a heavy web presence. I’m going to guess that Devin’s will be involved with that somehow. (Wild guess.)

Simmon, that's some sparse posting you've got there...I'm going to go all-in and hitch my guess to yours just based on the fact that you came out after six years on the boards to say this *one* thing.
One guess is something to do with Tim League and the Alamo Drafthouse family. Travelogue + movies hints in his Formspring immediately made me think of the Rolling Roadshow. I'm probably wrong.

This would be the best thing ever.

G4 was the first thing that popped into my mind when he announced he was leaving, but it's not even a real guess. I'm almost curious enough about it to actually figure out how to follow somebody on Twitter. I'm not quite sure I'm ready for that brave new world though, and I figure it'll end up posted here anyhow.

It's almost like you're apathetic. I'm in the same boat. I'm pretty curious to find out, but I'm curious enough to sign up for Twitter.

Frodo.

Edit: Fuck, Bilbo!

Fuck it.

"Attack Of The Show" spin-off "Attack Of The Films" where he gets to review films with Olivia Munn.
