90's Draft: 9/27 to 10/8 - Page 2

Yeah, but i can't find the exact date it was released. That's my question!
I believe we go with wide release dates, not festivals or NY/LA releases, so I'd go with USA 18 August 1989
post #53 of 71
And running until 25 December 1999?

That said, can one claim a title released same day? For example, if I wanted something released 18 August 1989? Or must it be between the two release dates?
My interpretation is no (the films have to be released within the dates of the other two).
That's what I thought. Thanks for the clarification, Diva!

Previously, the bookend titles have been eligible.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Easy Rider for a bookend in the 70's draft and was picked.
But it's not the bookends I would necessarily be curious about. It's other films released the same day.
I'm sure they're fine, unless someone wants to argue time zones.
If the bookends are included, then yeah anything released the same day counts.

Sex, Lies --- if it wasn't chosen last time & Ripley are eligible. And all in between. Same day films as each are fine.

We haven't really used wide releases before. Let's call it 8/4/89 for the start date. And again, you can't choose films that were picked last time in case there's any overlap from the last time we drafted.

Thanks for the clarification. I could have sworn we did wide release dates, but if the festival/limited release dates open up more eligible films I'm all for it!
Btw, i've decided that i'm gonna win this. So you can all stop trying to.

New York/LA release, yes. Festival not so much.

I think I'm going to have to gracefully back out of this now. I've been busy as hell lately and haven't had time to prepare and I doubt I'll be able to monitor the threads as its going so instead of being "that guy" that everyone is always waiting to take his turn I'm just gonna step away.

Have fun everyone!

Just dropping in to say welcome back to Doug!

I acquiesce to Tati's proclaimed dominance, but is there any more room in this sucker?

Ooo, that festival rule rules out a film I wanted. Boo. Never released in US. Sucker-punch.
No, no, no. I think I am thinking of the same film and I am bummed it's ineligible. Top ten of the decade without a doubt.

C'mon... you can change that rule. That film needs to be picked in some decade somewhere.
