Is there a cheap/easy/free way to turn word documents into pdfs?

Open Office should let you do that.

http://www.cutepdf.com/

That essentially changes anything you can print into a PDF. Installed it at my office and it's been a godsend.

Seconding and thirding Spike's recommendation, I use cute.pdf hundreds of times a day. Also, while we're at it, if you need a free way to type on pdf's, I recommend foxit .

I have Word for Mac 2008 edition, so I don't think I have that option. I'll try Spike's' recommendation. I tried a Google search and only came up with links to paid services.

Thanks all!

ETA: Dang. I guess the cute link is only for PCs. I'll have to download it at work.

ETA2" Just saw neoolong's post. Downloading Open Office now and it has a version for mac. Yay!

If you don't want to download a standalone program, I use this online service from time to time - http://www.freepdfconvert.com/

If you're on a Mac you can just print to PDF (it's built into the OS).

Some instructions here: http://www.cae.wisc.edu/macosx-printpdf

ETA: I would give better instructions but I'm at work and I don't have access to a Mac here.

I've got Microsoft Office 2008 on my Mac. I always just use save as and then choose pdf. It works great for me.

With Word for Mac, isn't there already a PDF button on the lower left side when you choose Print?

EDIT: I use OpenOffice, so for all I know Microsoft disables that button or something in Office for Mac.

Whoa! You guys just blew my mind. I knew Macs were awesome. I really need to learn all the tricks. I have a feeling I use like 10% of the functions its capable of. I just learned about its screen grab program.

If you don't have any of that stuff I use the free download PrimoPDF. works well at the office.
