I'm glad you caught it! You and Bobby have ignited a passion I had long ago buried. I owe you both.

The cast is incredible. Welles, Nimoy, Eric Idle, Scatman Crothers! SCATMAN CROTHERS!

As always thanks for reading.

I get ya, but I think he was addressing the figure in the context of the film's narrative. While the figure in question is pre-Rodimus, in "Transformers Continuity" Hot Rod has already become Rodimus so I think that's what he meant.

Now I kinda wish I had a Rodimus figure, too... even though I was fortunate enough to inherit an original Ultra Magnus (who, when transformed, you could really transport Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and chums in!) & the two are essentially the same car storage vehicle. If such a thing exists, I'd be very tempted to make it a Judd Nelson trilogy.

I've always found the Transformers' voices in Bay's offerings (with the exception of Peter Cullen) vastly inferior to those in The Movie. Especially, the Autobots. In the first live-action movie, there's nothing particularly memorable about any of the non-Prime Autobots and the Decepticons didn't fare much better. Animated Starscream alone is more memorable than all of them combined.

It's very nice of you to say, but, for all the great reading, I think we're even!

What a gent.

This fabled UK Chewers get together needs to happen I think. First round is on me.

There's a moment in Bayformers when Megatron berates Starscream and for a glorious moment it feels like Transformers, then it all disappears again.

The dialogue, as well, is off. Peter Cullen is there and giving it his all but saying things like "Ironhide, you know we don't harm humans! What is with you?" It just sounds weird/shit.

Oh, sir... this blog is the perfect capper for a fine weekend. I took my dead-end laughing at the "Gilmometerâ„¢."

You've got a real knack for picking films I also share a deep love for and offering your take, often to hilarious effect. That little synopsis of Gilmore in the second paragraph is better than some of the try-too-hard's who fill Empire's review section these days could muster. Seriously. Funnier, too.

Furthermore, I particularly enjoyed your new rating system. I myself employ a similar tactic, the "Radiant Isla Fisher's out of 5" scale. How did watching the film in question compare to gazing upon Isla's delightful form? Favorably? Sounds like a 3 Isla's out of 5 to me, etc...

That is beautiful. We'll do a swap for a week and compare our findings!
I must ask though, does a film starring Isla Fisher get an extra point automatically or does it have one taken away in the interest of fairness?

As always thanks for reading and for the comments, it sounds like Bobby had a good weekend!

Mike, for writing these entertaining blogs, all of which I've just read in the last little while, I salute you. For posting the pic of The Great Nick Oliveri I declare I'd take a bullet for you. The Kim Dahme pic is nice too.

Good show. I lolled out loud several times. Keep 'em comin'.

Adam Sandler has made two good films, this one and The Wedding Singer. I salute your rating system sir.

Bucho, why didn't you say so before? From now on everything I present will be a thinly veiled reference to Nick Oliveri.

You have made me roflcopter a few times, I'm delighted that I returned the favour, thank you.

Couldn't agree more. With each film he makes I like him less and less, but Happy Gilmore has stood the test of time. I spent a good three of my teenage years quoting nothing but this film.

To be saluted by a World leader is a great honor. I am humbled.
Thank you again.

Splendid!

Excellent question, M.P. In the interest of fairness, any film featuring Isla Fisher cannot be evaluated with The Radiant Isla Fisher's Out of 5 Rating System. It would muddy the process, like letting a native from either county referee an International football match. In such an event, a fall-back system is employed: "The Sweatin' Keith Gillespie's Out of 5 Rating System." The beauty of this being that no film features ex-Manchester United and Glentoran winger Keith, sweatin' or otherwise...

So why isn't the more accommodating S.K.G. scale - or "Gillespometer" - used all the time? Well, while it's hassle-free, it's also Isla-free. I believe the rest speaks for itself.

Pleasure as always, mate!

Very enjoyable weekend, thanks! I learned that tequila "prowess" is rewarded by hand-shakes from men who look like Henry Rollins, a Mad Hatter costume looks very becoming on a hot chick, and Rush/Pinkerton-era Weezer karaoke is best served giddy.

Sorry Bobby, I had a hard time concentrating after I clicked that picture... what were you saying?
Sadly, there comes a time in everyone's life where one must choose between Keith Gillespie and Isla Fisher. You seem to manage it well.

Sometimes I over indulge in tequila prowess which results in shaking hands with people I shouldn't be. Jack Daniels prowess on the other hand.....same thing.

Thank you Duke. I had no doubt in my mind that you would love Kick-Ass.

I fell back in love with Nic Cage after this film.

I would personally accept it! No international jet-setting required though, it's been on my to-do list and I think in the next month it'll come to the top of the pile.

Hmmm... now I worry that I have oversold it. I do that sometimes.
If you wish, when you watch it I will call you a scream down the phone at my favourite bits.
The offer is there.
Too late. If watching Kick Ass doesn't cure cancer, war and George Michael's career I'm never reading your blog again. Or at least not for 24 hours, whichever comes first.
Another great read Mike. Dammit, I'm trying to save money at the mo but I really wanna go pick up Kick Ass at lunch now. Hmmm. Oh, and I know I'm late to the party, but can I join in the Transformers the Movie love in? Much like bobby, I think I can pretty much recite all the dialogue from memory. and though I think it really drags a bit after Starscream's death, it's still always a fun time.

Damnit Mike you have just reminded me I really should watch this film.

Great stuff as always.

True that!

The pressure you and Bucho have put on me is intense, what if you don't like it? It's only a matter of time before you both find me!

Thanks again for reading

Not on my watch! I've got better things to do tonight than let the Transformers party stop.

I've got the same hesitance about second viewings, by the way. That's the first time I've ever heard anyone say the same thing. Makes me look forward to, hopefully, getting my hands on the Blu-ray all the more.

I am in the dark ages and don't have a Blu-ray player. I'm missing out on some highly defined ass kickery.

haha, thank you, sir!

If you have the means and/or inclination, I highly recommend picking up a PS3. It is, truly, so choice. Bayformers Mach 1 was my trial disc when I first got set up and... yeah, it was delightful. Leon and The Dark Knight are two other personal B.D. favourites. Plus, it'd be nice to finally get some online Chewer co-op on the go.

It continues to amaze me how much we think alike. I've pondered the same issues as only another man with a username derived from the real name/nickname combo format can. Rest assured, whatever you decide to do with your handle, you'll never be just another Joe Bloggs.*

This post was a Lifetime Presentation.

I make it my business to try to get every new Call of Duty and usually a number of games of the same ilk so that'd be superb! I may not be the slickest soldier around, but I don't know how to walk away from a fight so we might be able to conquer the lobbies by wearing out our opponents Homer-style, then pushing them over once they're exhausted.

"The Artist Formally known as Daddy Bobby Washington" is just wonderful, by the way.

I love that you are, not only, a first person shooter fan but a serious strategist with it. "We will fight them on the beaches!" I'm there mate!

For the first week or so on the boards I desperately tried to get a pretty brilliant Jeff Bridges Gif to work but it wouldn't, then like mana from heaven, Chris' audition surfaced.

A touching and heartfelt piece Mikeypants. If you're not headbanging regularly you then your neck musculature won't be in condition, and that's what I'll wager is your issue. Find five to ten minutes a day (in the car, at a bar, on a plane, watching Fame) to devote to the art and then when the time comes to do a good session in the pit your trusty old neck will be much more trusty.

(The waiter line cracked me up.)

That's a fine fitness regime Dr Bucho. I have been slacking (only practicing in Church, at meetings etc) Ill get more in as per your advice. I hope I can return the favour. Are there any ailments currently worrying you?

That's a touching proposition gents, but these days I wear an ankle bracelet which prevents me from taking part in gaming activities myself. If I so much as touch a controller I will explode into a pile of coins.
