Missing news on main page

I don't whether this is the right place for this question, nor can I find any discussion of this anywhere else, so apologies on either count if this is a mistake on my part.

Yesterday I couldn't connect to the site for several hours and since i've been able to get to the main page again, the news headlines aren't showing up on the left hand side as before. I'm using Safari and Firefox and I don't have any blocking or script interference activated.

Is anyone else noticing this?
