Sons of Anarchy: Season 3 - Page 3

I liked it a lot up until the convenient, trip to Belfast postponing, heart attack. Sagal was again the greatest thing about it.
I guess I'll be the lone voice of dissent. I thought this last episode was pretty weak, and I'm starting to wonder when this season is actually going to start. They're so worried about giving us windows into the "why" of what is happening in Belfast that everything else feels stuck in neutral. Holbrook was fantastic, but does anybody feel like we really gained anything story-wise from that whole diversion? Gemma is already back in Charming, her time on the run seems to have come to an end and they'll have to finally put some effort into that plot line but it feels like 3/4 of this season has kind of been an interesting aside.

They didn't even bother to pull the duct tape off of the wheel chair? Really?

My love for Tig knows no bounds. The look on his face as the story came out about whacking the Guatie hottie was great. "Actually, I just made a call." Calling the women out for killing him was great too.
No I'm with you A-Pathetic. I'm not sure if it's cause this is the first season I'm not marathoning on Blu but it really just feels like there's no tension. Holbrook did a great job but the whole thing just felt like a way to stretch the season out early on and the lack of progress on the whole Abel front is starting to get frustrating. There's a difference between a slow burn and wheel spinning and I can't help but feel like the start of this season has been filled with a lot more of the latter.
Sutter addressed some of those concerns via twitter.

These is all happening over a couple of days. The crew is still handling many problems on different fronts and they are out on Bail that's running out. Can't really hop on a plane.

Although i do want it to get going. And yes, Tig was the mvp.

Billings!

Hopefully, Chicken Man will pop up a few more times this season.
This season is starting to feel like a co-production with BBC America.
Really enjoyed this episode. I always love it when the main character of any show is allowed to be the smartest guy in the room. Jax's plan is an insane house of cards that the show will likely not allow him to pull off, but I dig the attempt.
I also loved this episode. It goes back to what Jacks was before...the smart one. Looking for a way to get done what he (and the club) needs done. Pretty slick, and we finally got some forward momentum.
At least things started to move forward. I still don't really feel like the season has started, but I'm hopeful that maybe we're getting to the end of the set up.

The heavy handed foreshadowing about what Jax will find in Belfast was really poorly done though. Gemma immediately starts talking about how Jax stepping foot in Ireland will unbury stuff? Well, dramatically I guess so. Realistically, he'll be busy trying to find his kid who Gemma has no idea at this point is tied into whatever these secrets are.
This episode really felt off. I'm not sure what it was but something was off kilter, sound editor maybe? Lack of sound effects, music or bike noises? I don't know but it just felt wierd.

Story-wise they really hit it out of the park, they jam packed as much plot and exposition as they could into this that there better be a lot of payoff in the near to immediate future. Everything after Jax found out that Jimmy knew about his son on was pure gold. That's the shit I want to see. Jax going ape shit on some IRA bad asses. Biker gang vs. IRA... There's a direct to DVD movie that needs to get made!
Good episode. It will be interesting to see how Stahl recants her story. It will look bad for her even if she delivers North Cal IRA. By the way, is there such a thing?

I know for a fact there's a healthy amount of IRA here in Phoenix, so I wouldn't doubt it for even a moment.
It might just be me, and I only saw it once, but I was dying laughing as Jax seemingly poured sugar into his coffee for a good 15 seconds. Man likes his coffee sweet.

Renewed for a fourth season.
So is the Irish lady Jaxs' real mother?

And can we bring the redheaded daughter to the states?

I can't believe they would care. And by the previews she figured out a story.
I think the daughter is Jax's sister and John Teller's daughter.

Possibly. I assumed she was Teller's original old lady but you could be right.
Also, Tara is pregnant! Another baby! Though i bet you she loses it because of a fight or wound due to the club business.

With Jemma going off on Tara about not saving Abel and real motherhood I just figured they were going there.

Which would be just the thing to really send her off the deep end and into Ophelia territory when they decide to pick up the Hamlet parallels again.

I think they're going GODFATHER 2.

"It wasn't a miscarriage. It was an abortion. An abortion, Jax!"

The heart condition comes from Gemma's side of the family, so Gemma is Jax's mother.

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

I'd like to think the show wouldn't go as obvious with the soap opera family bullshit, but yep and yep.

Jax has a heart condition? When did we learn about it? Or are you just refering to Able?

Yeah, I was thinking maybe she'd get an abortion and then later when Jax finds out that'd be the "Get thee to a nunnery!" moment.

Pretty early I believe, I'm pretty sure in S1. I don't know if it was stated outright, but I think Gemma mentioned it. But, it's genetic. His brother had it and died, he had it, and his son most likely had it, which was one of the reasons why Abel was in the hospital in addition to being a crank baby.
Yeah it was back in season 1. Just like Clay's arthritis, it really hasn't been mentioned often.
Jeez Jax, you dirty dawg.

Figured Darby was dead. Glad he's not.

What are we on truce #3 or #4 with the Mayans by now?
Yeah, I can't even remember exactly how Darby went out. I thought he was dead for sure. Good to have him back though.

Jax of course will find out about Tara's pregnancy and have second thoughts. Especially if Abel dies.

The truce with the Mayans ain't gonna hold. They came around far too easily. It's all a little convenient. And didn't Marcus kill his son, not SAMCROW?
Sepinwall made some good points about Stahl's plan to sell out her left luggage:

"I'm not exactly sure how this is going to work, since A)everyone in the ATF knows Stahl was alone in the safe house with Edmond Hayes, and B)I figure Agent Tyler was in a place where her whereabouts could be verified at the time that everything in the safe house went down. But I guess Stahl wouldn't be Stahl if she wasn't silling to betray even the woman who shares her bed."
Sometimes this show drives me crazy with too many details (the politics in Belfast) but at times I wish they could explain other things a little bit more. How did we go from Darby (an obviously untrustworthy criminal) telling a Mayoral candidate about illegal prescription drugs, to a warrant and a raid a few hours later? I mean, I assume the answer is dramatic convenience but the timing of everything was very confusing to me. With the look of shame on Unser's face I thought maybe they were snagging the boys before they could flee because Clay had told Unser about their plan to skip the hearing. When the Sons figured out they were looking for illegal drugs my brain started going backwards and trying to remember what scene I'd forgotten from between Darby and that point.
Yeesh! Stahl is a fucking snake.

It was nice seeing the Sons being semi-competent criminals at least, thought. This show is so preoccupied with throwing shit at them, that sometimes I cannot understand how every single one of them isn't dead or in jail by now.
Not a great episode. They get VERY confusing with the relationships and dealings. And my god the sound department. Do something about the dialog.

Stahl doesn't need the story to hold up, she just needed Gemma to not take the fall (and not finger her). If the case goes away, it'll be due to lack of evidence, not a frame job, I suspect.

Hmm, I had no problems hearing them on DirecTV.

They did actually film episodes with them in Ireland right? For this season?
This show needs more Robin Weigert. Seriously.

What were you confused about Tati? Stahl's cunning plan? Basically, she wants her career back on track and is willing to throw her colleague / lover under a bus if that's what it takes.

My only beef is that the Mayans agreed to the deal too easily. Although they could just be lying and playing for time.

As they never mentioned finding any bodies in the ruins of Cara Cara, I knew he'd turn up someday, extra crispy.

Half-Sack's old lady Cherry was on Hawaii Five-0 this week looking like a platypus. Between her and Ally Walker this show is going to feature some nasty looking plastic surgery.
The deal actually makes sense though. It might have been better to put off the agreement and make the audience wonder until their president shows up at the hospital chapel to make the peace guarantee.

Did I miss something when Stahl went from sportfucking Hale to bi-curiosity?
Stahl always struck me as being a bit dykey. Just look at the way she carries herself!

Seriously though. Sex is in a distant second to the job for that lady. She'll do anything for her job.
I really hope at some point Opie voices his regrets about not killing her when he had the chance.
I was just surprised to see Robin Weigert this week - didn't recognize her and wouldn'tve known if not for the opening credits...that makes it 3 Deadwood alums on the show now?

Four. Dayton Callie, Weigert, Titus Welliver, and Paula Malcomson. Kurt Sutter has been dropping hints that more are to come. I'm crossing my fingers for a SOA/Justified crossover.
Forgot about Titus! If they can only rope in Ian McShane...
If not him, then I'd settle for Swejen.

Yeah and they totally could do that with no problem, I really wish they would. How fun would it be to see Samcro interact with Raylan?

Watched all 3 seasons in a week. Glad I can now join you guys on this ride.

Sorry but you can't join us yet. First you start out as a prospect. After a year mimimum you can join and you will get patched.
Speaking of which, what's the deal with Tig's hard-on for the blond prospect guy?

Damian Lewis' show Life had at least 4 Deadwood alums (Wiegert, Welliver, Garrett Dillahunt, and Brent Sexton). Plus 2 Band of Brothers alums.
