Wow. I thought I was ready for this movie but I wasn't. I mean growing up in the Bible Belt, I've seen this kind of militancy in churches but what I wasn't prepared for was how fanatical these people were about George W Bush. At one point, a cut out of the former president gets hauled out to be prayed over with words like "The President is here in this building right now. Say 'hi Mr. President!' " It was weird.
What's scarier is the lady who founded Jesus Camp. She is truly a psycho. Her inspiration for starting the camp? Palestinian camps designed to radicalize Muslim children into being suicide bombers. That's her mission and when we see what goes on at the camp, it plays like an indoctrination program for the next generation of Timothy McVeighs.
Even though this movie was made before the Tea Party movement got started, you can get a better understanding of what some of these people meant by "taking our Country back." Jesus Camp is nothing less than the salad days for the Tea Party folk. Scariest movie you'll ever see.
