I... actually liked this one. I certainly thought it was better than Diary.
I rather enjoyed the fact that it felt like a smaller, more intimate tale than the bigger picture stuff that has come before. And it seemed to take elements of the first three (wooded backdrop, survivors looking for a safe haven, military folks out for themselves, the dilemma as to how to deal with the dead), and crammed it all into one film. It felt like a summary of Romero's original work. And I kind of liked it because it felt like putting on an old shirt that you are still fond of wearing from time to time.
Agreed, the CG was terrible, but there were only a couple of places where it really grated (the heads on pikes scene, specifically), but most of it didn't bother me too much.
And the acting on display didn't seem that out of place from anything Romero gave us in the first three films.
Overall, this is one of those times that I agree with Devin's take on the film.
