The League on FX, Season 2

We're gonna be getting another "Shiva Blast" this season? Sold.

This show scarily reminds me of my own real-life circle of peers -- married and recently-divorced Chicago lawyers who constantly one-up each other, and who sometimes care more about gaming and other massively stupid shit than we really should.

Also, Taco needs to be elevated to main cast-dom.

I was really impressed with how much I loved the first season despite having the least possible interest in fantasy football. So much great comedic talent on display.

Glad to hear Season 2 starts off just as good, if not better.

I feel this thread needs a bit of a bump. This has been a great season so far, and is definitely filling the void that this, I'll say it, lackluster season of Sunny has provided.

This is the best comedy still going, with Ugly Americans being a close second. Just a weirdly eclectic cast (the guy from Human Giant, the Internet Comedian guy, even a Duplass brother?!) that just runs with the material. It's got this great laid-back vibe and an attitude confident enough to let four characters goofing around each be enough to buoy the show. Just fantastic.

The standout (by a nose) in a night packed with great shows. It barely claws ahead by sheer insanity of the thing, along with jokes falling over each other and an amazing level of callback (to Seinfeldian levels).

"The musicial armageddon that is Dre's car."

*Monkey violates prone Kermit Costume Lady. Husband and friends watch from the porch* "WORK THE BACK OF THE HEAD!"

Never caught season 1 because it looked like one of FX's "also rans" that they would pair up with Sunny. But I heard good things so I've been giving it a shot.

It didn't really grab me until the White Knuckler episode. It just took me that long to warm up to it. Now while it is pretty hilarious, I just can't put it anywhere but 4th behind Sunny, Community and 30 Rock. It's just not there yet. Those three are appointment TV. The League is "tivo and watch the next morning".

And that's not to slight the show at all. It's damned funny.

and yes...I know it's overall a down year for Sunny.

Fair enough, just good to see other people liking it.

Knew it was coming, but the second "fear boner" made me laugh more than it should've. Maybe it's still the relative "newness" of it, but for me this has been the most consistently funny show on Thursday night this year.

So anybody here caught the season finale of the best comedy going? I found myself dying, then realizing that there was another episode out of nowhere. Fucking bliss.

I couldn't give a shit about fantasy football, but this show is definitely up there with best comedy. People say It's Always Sunny has irredeemable, horrible sociopathic leads, but the ones on The League take first place (or the Shiva?) for that.

And they strike me as more real too. I know people like Ruxin, sometimes I AM like Ruxin!

So good. Ruxin stole it. "Can I just say, I feel like I've won twice." Kevin's meltdown was historic.

Really...it's almost cartoonish how mean they are to Andre. Not that it isn't funny mind you. I mean in real life there is no way he is friends with any of them.

It's all relative. In any group of friends, there's always one guy that is sort of the target. The way they treat Andre is a bit over the top (though the other guys do slip up now and then and actually act nice to the guy, and he does sometimes give a bit back too), and Taco is pretty out there, but compared to Sunny, a live action adult swim comedy, its the Wire.
