I'll start by suggesting Red Dwarf, hands down the best Sci-Fi comedy show ever made. The cast are now too old to carry on and to be honest the last two seasons were way below the quality of the others. I think there is a ton of great writers out there now who could do a fantastic job with the remake; especially if they used the first book as source material to start with.

Thoughts?
I guess you don't know that they are making another Red Dwarf season with the same cast. Its going to skip a season and go right into season 10 (makes sense if you watch back to earth).

Oh and keeping with the british show love, I love to see a more modern version of Sandbaggers.

I don't about that one specifically, but the potential for a continuation of the core concept is certainly there.
I want this. So badly.

And also, Sliders with a bigger budget. The X-Files.

A series based on the Oz books. Something like the Tin Man, the crappy SciFi mini series, but better. Physically, I thought it did a great job capturing Baum's vision, and I really want the lesser known characters from the series to get some exposure. The execution, acting, and story was a complete failure though.

SMALL WONDER, the Drama. They can make Viki a killing cyborg who was created to protect mankind from worldwide destruction by machines. Or some shit. Just make her kick ass.

The recent special was ass though.

The Japanese have already done an animated version of that. Eight million times. Believe me, you only think you want it.

Quantum Leap and MacGuyver seem like the most remakeable shows I can imagine, I have always wondered why no one's done it. Of course they did try to do one with MacGuyver's "nephew" once, didn't they? I can't remember if anything ever got filmed for that...

PROFIT was way too dark a premise for it to succeed. Even now I think.

Have you seen the shows on HBO and Showtime? Considering what they get away with on BREAKING BAD, PROFIT would fit in nicely at AMC. I've always wondered why the creators haven't tried to re-pitch it to cable networks.

Hart to Hart. It's dying for a remake! A wealthy couple who occupy themselves with solving crimes, maybe modernize with some high tech gadgetry.

They filmed a pilot called Young MacGyver. Jared Padalecki starred and it was horrible. There are clips of it on YouTube.

Was it? I tried to get the DVDs, but when I put them in my player it wasn't Red Dwarf but some horrible high school version of Blade Runner. Somewhere along the line the guy (I forget which one of the two is running it now, I'll look it up on wikipedia later) forgot that its the comedy not the drama that kept us coming back for more.

LEGENDS OF THE HIDDEN TEMPLE

If remade on a big SURVIVOR level production budget, it would be the best show ever. Build a giant outdoor set/mini city in Hawaii or something, shoot on location.

History. Trivia. Physical challenges all caped off by a run through a mega temple, constructed on a huge scale, like the ROME sets. Have contestants be forced to escape their way from an ancient hidden city crawling with temple guards, all under the watchful eye of the mighty Olmec, a living stone deity. To top it all off, they have to reconstruct the Shrine of the Silver Monkey and defuse traps if they hope for any reward other than continued survival. Bring back Kirk Fogg to host, and give him an 'old Indy' style eye patch to demonstrate the passing of time and hint at his no doubt awesome adventures in the intervening years

"What do you say, Olmec? Was this the greatest fucking game show ever?"

Charlie's Angels. The twist is that Charlie is a WOMAN. Voiced by Kathleen Turner.

I'm actually 100% in support of this. This was a great kid's game show. Not to mention that last challenge was impossible. You've got people knocking teenagers down with foam walls and everything. Throwing them in ball pits. It was brutal, and awesome.

Along those lines: AGRO-CRAG.

Yes, the temple run was especially brutal, and it had a punishing time limit. Three minutes total, between the two partners, if I'm not mistaken. For the remake, I'd go longer so the temple action could be crazier.

However, the original still was pretty intense. As you point out, contestants got knocked around, fell down through holes, and were pushed off ledges. The best part of course was how scary it was when a temple guard showed up. Often they'd have to search a shrunken tree or something, and the tree would end up being an evil spirit and grab them with it's branches. Or a temple guard might pop out of a foam pit and ambush someone. That's terrifying to kids, and I bet it would be hilarious to watch adults get scared too

PS Have you ever seen the video of Zack's epic temple run? It's the single best LOTHT performance of all time. Amazing stuff. I don't see how anyone could watch that video and not want the show on the air tomorrow.

PPS LOTHT had awesome music.

PPPS: You are right about GUTS. The AgroCrag is a mighty challenge indeed. WILD AND CRAZY KIDS had fun antics too (loved the large scale bumper boat battles), but with adults I think it would end up feeling dumb.

Seriously, it was a brutally difficult thing to accomplish.

Nice to see all the QL love up in here. I was in the fan club back in the day. Rumors of movies and a retooled TV show have run rampant since it was canceled. I will not get my hopes up until I'm actually plopped down and watching some awesome Quantum Leap.
Seems like a few modern day television series that attempt to tackle time travel are canceled pretty quickly though. Journeyman and Daybreak are just two off the top of my head.

Along these lines The Crystal Maze needs to come back, idiotic contenstants and Richard O'brien mocking them. But I don't want a remake I just want it back as it was.

Vengeance Unlimited was very similar to Stingray. I just preferred Stingray.

Just the other day we were talking about how awesome Tales Of The Gold Monkey was. A cheeky rogue of a float plane pilot galivanting around the exotic tropics? Fuckin' A!

So ... Tales Of The Gold Monkey. With Nathan Fillion and Bruce Campbell natch.

I just read up on that. It sounds like a really cool show, Ken. I'd support it's return along with LOTHT

Misfits of Science is kinda due for a re-imagining.

Square Pegs.

Fuck it, Family Ties, too. Only with 1,000% less Yothers/more Bateman. She's now MILF-y hot. That LMA movie from the other day says so.

Around four years ago, Entertainment Weekly mentioned that the show's creators tried pitching a 10th anniversary movie to the FOX execs, but it didn't quite take.

But yeah -- was pissed when that show ended. Adrian Pasdar sleeping naked each night in a cardboard box? How is that not instant broadcast gold?

Also, were Lisa Zane and Lisa Edelstein separated at birth?

I kind of want to see a new version of the Adam West Batman just to see how firmly the stick is embedded in some fanboys asses. The internet meltdown would be something to behold.

I expect that we'll see a new X-Files in the next 10 years.

This made me laugh so much more than it should have. I feel guilty now. But I also agree. And in a semi-related note, Cover-Up. Maybe the CW can combine Nikita and Top Model into a good show.

'The Master' on F/X. Give Sho Kosugi some work.
'Automan' but with current production values.
Automan. That's the show where every episode, the car would turn at a right-angle and whoever was pursuing him would say something like, "If he can make that turn, so can we" and crash horribly, right?
Next few months would be the best time to remake Automan. They're gonna need those Tron: Legacy leftovers.

That's the one. Desi Arnaz Jr. would get smushed up against the windshield every time they made a turn. Hilarity.

I just posted about this in the Voltron thread, how could I have forgotton about Starfleet?

Make it live action but keep Brian May doing the soundtrack.

'Space: 1999', but updated to 'Space: 2099'. We need another runaway moon show.
2nd on a Space: 1999 reboot! It's more relevant than ever!

Also, Gerry Anderson's UFO could make an awesome series...you could even keep the original ship and sound designs but use updated FX. The original series had a great concept but was boring as hell.

Babylon 5 could be updated with current FX and professional actors (most of the leads were fine but God the secondary characters).

MASH

Land of the Lost: could be a great show for kids again (I did like the Will Ferral movie tho)

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

Second Kolchack the Night Stalker....done with a world weary middle aged dude not some slicky boy!

I came in here to say this. Conceptually the show was great. Execution could be improved on quite a bit. It wouldn't even need to be Tales of the Golden Monkey either. Hell, the plot wasn't all that different from Disney's Tail Spin. It could just be Uncharted, or some 'original' property set in world of 30s serial adventures.

I guess they still do make those, but they always turn out like Relic Hunter or somesuch. Ah well.

I guess you're joking or something, but I've kind of expected this to happen for a while. I'm not sure why someone hasn't tried to put a name superhero on TV, even while an off brand Superman show enters it's 10th season. Meanwhile, it's all original(ish) superhero shows like Heroes, the Cape, or No Ordinary Family. Batman seems an obvious choice, from a budget perspective. But why not the Flash or Luke Cage, or a couple dozen others?

I don't really want to see them, but money in the f'n bank.

Crime Story. The world needs more James Ellroy-esque '50s neo-noir detective stories.

This pretty much sound like Chuck, minus the supersuit.
