I probably need to quit drinking anyway, but I'm not sure I could handle the food restrictions if that happened to me. For the last 2 months it's been hell for me, and even being mega careful about what I eat(which I've been doing for a month), I still slip up all the time, and even minor slip-ups are not fun. I'd look into alternatives to having it out, but the ones that exist are either too restrictive(doubt I'd ever be able to eat out again with any confidence), or not very effective(zapping the stones with soundwaves).

So what are your symptoms now if you eat the wrong thing or drink booze?

You've apparently missed the first part of the weird shit thread. We railed on that for a good page, until NickPee started collecting urine, then it got kind of buried, understandably.

Yeah I missed that. Collecting urine? I've missed a lot.

If I eat the wrong foods I usually end up paying for doing so by just feeling like crap. Usually a lot of stomach pain and whatnot. And when I drink more than 2-3, I get drunk really quick and i feel like crap like im going to throw up.

There's a reason we've been calling him NickPee.

If my hazy recollections of my 2002 college biology lab are correct, one of the many jobs of the gallbladder is to produce bile for the digestion. Bile breaks up oils and allows them to mix with water. So it makes sense that fatty foods would give you indigestion.

Yup...you are correct!

The Weird Personal Habits thread is quite recent history, so feel free to catch up. We'll wait.

If only, man, if only. I was a tad incredulous regarding the reaction to the watch. PK says she doesn't know anyone her age who wears one and I bet that's accurate. The pocket watch has kinda returned in the form of the cell phone. Actually, that's why I got a wrist watch. When I subbed I felt like an asshole taking out my cell to check the time. Kids can't use cell phones on school grounds, so teachers shouldn't either. Granted plenty of teachers do that anyway but I won't do it. Hence the wrist watch. Just one more wedge between me and the new generation, I guess.

Gallstones suck. See season 2 of Deadwood if you don't believe me (though those are kidney stones).

I'm more concerned with why no one thought to point out the paradox in this part:

Had my Gall bladder out last week because of Gall Stones, they do indeed suck and it is the only pain that women will admit is worse than Childbirth.

It's not naturally luminous if you have to run a current through it to produce light.

It was discovered at the north pole frozen under the ice from a crashed meteor*, and the only reason it was spotted was because it was glowing due to the magnetic radiation from the northern lights.

It glows on it's own in nature, it's just that for home lighting purposes you need a more reliable power source than aurora borealis

How has your body reacted to having it out? I'm weary as hell right now from some of the stories I've come across in my "research"(aka Google, and comments similar to DJ Dylan's experience).

One of my friends admitted that getting one of her tattoos was more painful than having both her kids.

Update for those who care:

I gave her the mix CD the other night. In the presence of her boyfriend. She was like: Oh my God! This is beautiful, you must have worked forever on this! I can't wait to get home and start listening to it.

Her boyfriend didn't seem upset. He just said something to the effect of that's pretty cool and I should do that for a living.

I don't know if he meant make mixes or design packaging for music CDs and DVDs.

I'm hoping he meant the latter.

Just me retconing a fanciful explanation for my made up element

In all seriousness, should anyone ever discover a glowing metal I know that I won't get credit for the science involved in the discovery, what I was really posting for was to stake my claim on the 'Luminum(c)' name, which I can imagine people wanting to use for various products ETC. I wanted to make sure that I have the earliest recorded use of the word to describe a glowing material.

Any fans of Legal Eagles here? I thought Redford and Debra Winger had nice chemistry together. It's certainly better than many of the Rom Coms we have these days.

That last line is the perfect capper to an utterly deflated climax to this whole situation.

Great job, Erix!

Of course he didn't care. He's at home pounding that snizz while they listen to the CD.

Kate, until the meteor is discovered (soon, I'm sure) please share more on these, how did you put it, "bags of water."

It isn't, though.

Here you go, from the WEIRD PERSONAL HABBITS THREAD. I've not posted up anything lately though because I got the impression that if people were to know the full extent of my weirdness, I'd never hear the end of it

All things considered not to bad. I healed pretty quick (came off the pain meds on Sunday) had the stiches out on Tuesday and feeling ok. Work wise you can go back to work after 2 weeks unless you do a more manual job then it's four.

Still can't drive or exersize or lift anything heavy for at least another week, can't eat fatty foods (but that's ok as I'm on a diet). But I feel better than I have in a long time.

The best piece of advice I can give you is once your doc has diagonosed it ask for Tramadol, lots and lots of Tramadol. It's basically Morphine and It's the only thing that stops the pain.

BTW, glad to hear your recovery is going well, Ken. This has been an ongoing saga of misery for you for quite some time now, and it's good to see it reach it's conclusion
post #231 of 324
Erix, my best advice to you is to use a table saw to surgically remove your penis. Use some of the CD case-making skills you have to whip up a really nice box. Put the penis into the box, and send it to the girl. This is the only way you're ever going to get your dick near her.

What Is It With Latin Love Songs?

They're always so dark. And, most of the time, the lyrics have to do with the guy pleading for the girl who left him to come back to him.

Either that or they have something to do with pleading for her to stay.

Or... They go all syroupy and talk about the desire to love her every minute of every day and being unable to live or breathe without her. In these really obsessive terms usually reserved for stalkers and psychopaths.

Why must they feed that Latino cliché?

Then again, every single love song by Chicago is basically the same way. So, maybe I'm wrong about this being an exclusively Latin thing. Maybe I should just be saying love songs suck.

Ruben Blades has a great monologue about that in Chinese Box.

Question for Erix.

If someone is thrown out of a place and keeps coming back, making very little attempt to mask their 'identity', are they retarded or are they just trying to fuck with management.

Well Spike...

My answer to that question is: If several people were thrown out of a place for basically the same reasons, and all were "officially" welcomed back except for one, then it's only fair that this one person be allowed his or her space as well - alias or no.

Especially if this person isn't hurting anyone.

This movie fucking sucked. It's a movie that only exists because some bright spark in Hollywood realised that LEGAL rhymes with EAGLES.

I Miss Erik Wacker's Old Avatar

I do.

Truly.

Because it was cool? Yes. Definitely.

But mostly because it was gone before I could ever figure out what it was. It was nagging at me always.

Now this will torture me forever.

Am I alone?

It was Brolin getting his face Into the Blue-d, no?

Anyway, I miss his old avatar mainly because his new one brings ups painful, terrifying childhood memories.

Fine.

Feeling kind of down because my platonic-romantic overture in the form of a personalised, and apparently erotically charged, mix CD may have done EXACTLY what I intended it to do and the only place I have to gloat about my brilliance is on a movie message board.

You?

I've been better. Thanks for asking.

Feel like I've had a case of the shits for a couple of YEARS now. And I was in one of my moods.... I've been kind of bummed out because of renovations at my building and my poker buddy over in 4D moved out.

I miss him.

It doesn't help that the three assholes who moved into his apartment really get on my tits.

I wish I could kill them. But, instead, I prefer to leave obscene messages on their answering machine.

People have told me life goes on.

I'm going to start listening.

Not for me Kate, but then I've always had kind of a schoolgirl crush on Bill S Preston Esq.

Bucho=Win.

If I were reasonably sure they were okay to post, you'd get an Orson Welles .gif for that one.
