Decent. Devin's review was pretty spot on in that the movie is never really great nor is it ever that awful. It's just what it is.
Although Devin didn't mind the non-existent German accents, it bothered me slightly. These "actors" could have at least TRIED to do an accent. But whatevs. I also felt that there wasn't enough tension. I didn't really get the sense that at any second their plan could be found it. They mention it in passing I think but there was never really much of it.
And I wanted to know WHY all these officers wanted Hitler dead. Did they all want him dead for the same reason? I find it hard to believe that all of them were like, "ah shit, he be mass murdering Jews! We gotta stop this." I All we needed was a scene or two with one or two different officers expressing their hatred and why exactly they wanted Hitler gone. I don't even know why that young right hand man to Stauffenberg wanted in on this plot. It was just more of a "we gotta kill him! let's go do it!" kind of movie.
But those faults aside it's pretty wild to see how far they got with the plan. I saw a special on TLC or Discovery about the 15 different assassination attempts on Hitler. This one was the big one and they mentioned that it was the table in that conference room that ultimately protected Hitler. DAMN TABLES!!!
It's also interesting to think of the "what if..." portion. What if these guys succeeded? Would they still have been arrested and jailed? Would Germany be a communist country still?
In better hands this could have been a great movie. Things would have been fleshed out a bit more, a little more background and story added.
