Survivor: Nicaragua - Page 2

Everyone on Espana except for Yve is dead to me.
Tyrone is gone and I am unmoved. He seemed like a cool guy, but he wasn't exactly charisma in a can.

I'm curious to see where Holly goes from here. Is she now a player to watch?

Na'Onka's downfall is imminent.

'''''''''''''yawn'''''''''''''

the switchup was just lame. the older tribe again blew it by voting off one of their own and not taking the numbers advantage.

Survivor is really good at twisting characters around. We were shown to hate Na for her insensitive comments and actions towards her fellow players, esp the handicapped one...... and after this episode, we're to actually feel bad for her. LOL... not surprised she was divorced with that poor attitude of hers.

On the contrary, I found her shivering and suffering immensely satisfying.

By the way, last night might have had the most ridiculous immunity challenge in 21 seasons: fill a tube with your backwash.
Yes, that was one of the greatest immunity challenges ever. My favorite moment came when it was over and La Pada almost drowned Kelly B. by leaving her at the bottom of the wheel with her head submerged.

Oh, was I supposed to sympathize with Na'? She mentioned that she felt like the divorce was her fault. Um, if Survivor is in any way representative of your actual personality, I'm gonna say, "That's a 10/4, good buddy." She's just a big bag of crazy. And I loved Alena's comments about her, saying Na' is like a 16-year old girl on her period. Awesome.
I completely forgot this was on yesterday.
Oh, almost forgot, Probst ix-nayed the oh-so-great-for-TV Medallion of Power. May it forever gather dust in the bottom of the Survivor storage locker, alongside the Pearl Islands' Outcast bandanas and Gabon's Sugar Shack.

Wait, you didn't feel bad for Naonka, right? I don't think you come back from slagging on the handicapped, and certainly not by almost quitting.

I hope she does quit, and soon. Does anyone remember that useless fucking idiot Chet? That was my favorite terrible contestant ever.
That two-person race with Chet and Joel was comedy gold!

Chet: I hit my head.
Joel: I don't care!
Chet: I know...

In the realms of great loser Survivor players, Osten from Pearl Islands ranks mighty high. Selling all his clothes before leaving for the island then freezing half to death every night. Running like a scared little girl from a pelican. Screaming about imaginary snakes in the shelter. Almost drowning during a reward challenge...
Now that was a quality episode!

Didn't expect Kelly B to go. Although neither did she... Only in Survivor would having one leg be viewed as an unfair advantage. She wasn't that interesting a personality, so I'm not too broken up.

Marty seems to be getting the Russell edit. Every week it's doomsday for Marty until - PAZZOW - he manages to sneak by once again. If he can turn Fabio and someone else we may have another Samoa situation with the villainous underdog male taking out the cocky Queen Bee (Brenda).

Personally, I'm rooting for him.

As for Yve getting the boot, meh. She's probably a nice lady but she was so manic this episode that it wasn't hard to watch her get the boot. Dan may just be the new Clay.

The momentum seems to be picking up finally. About time.

P.S.: Has Kelly Purple said anything yet?
Okay, this episode was good enough to make up for last week's awfulness (boring, and Tyrownage got booted. ). I honestly have no idea what went on with the La Flor tribal council. Bug-fuck insane. I've kind of grown to like Dan more and more the more Tribal Councils he impossibly survives. Can't see how he makes it to the merge, but it would be kind of awesome.
Somewhat inexplicable that they didn't vote Marty out to get rid of the idol. Fabio is pure gold - Marty's grandmaster fib followed by name-dropping a 1970s tennis player killed me. Also, I will miss binoic surviorette. Maybe it's sympathy attraction but she was crazy cute.

These last two episodes really feel like the producers felt the show was stumbling and needed to do something to shake things up. Drop the old vs. young? Okay. Two tribal councils in one night? No problem. At the rate we're going, we'll have the merge next week.
Well, there went the last two sympathetic contestants for me. I guess I'll root for Jane, because she looks like Bonnie Raitt's mom.

When was the last time we had as big a vapor contestant as Purple Kelly? She'll probably win.

Nah, they do that stuff literally all the time. Every single time they're divided by race, or gender, or penis length, or whatever, they split it up again four episodes in. And there's almost always a two tribals in one show night pre-merge.

One of the show's limitations is actually their inability to change horses midstream. They have to plan any twist like this out before the show begins, to comply with laws pertaining to gameshows. I mean, I'm sure they've cheated that from time to time, but it can explain some of the worse outcomes. Like Jimmy Johnson's early exit this year.

I hate that I'm forced into kind of passively rooting for Marty. He deserves to burn, but he's the lesser of two annoyings now.
In his blog, Probst talks about the fact that the double elimination is a function of the fact that the show has found it necessary to increase contestants. And the reason that they've increased contestants is because, somewhere along the line, fucktards like Danny or Na'onka realized that it was possible to just walk away mid-game.
That was a surprising nail-biter of a TC. I hadn't quite realized how much I had invested myself in Team Marty, but tonight cinched it. Glad he didn't get booted. This season needs an underdog to tear apart these douchey young kid tribes and he fits the bill. I wonder if he'll get his II back (Dumb decision!).

Does anyone else loathe Sash as much as I do? He just eminates sleeze. Hopefully his TC slip comes back to bite him in the ass.

Fabio is familiar with the work of Freud.

How epic was Dan's jump-n-throw at the RC? How utterly mortifying.

Kelly Purple finally took center stage with her first confessional. It did not inspire confidence that we'll be seeing future testimonials...

Not going to miss Jill much. She was a bore and her only value came from backing Marty's schemes. I'll be curious to see if he can find anyone else to align with. Alina maybe?

Merge next week. Awesome.
I love that Jane just walked away and cooked up her own fish dinner. Still rooting for her or the rolled-in-the-dirt Amy Adams.
This is headed for the worst final four ever: Sash, Naonka, Brenda, and Kelly.

I dislike Marty as much as any other contestant with the exception of Na'. The kids may come off like douches, but that's probably because we can smell our own. To me, Marty comes off like a smug prick with an oversized opinion of his own intelligence. That being said, I hope he stays in the game for as long as possible because his machinations are making things one hell of a lot more fun. I have the feeling that his survival into the merge might mean serious trouble for the younger players.

Yeah, he blows. He's the Aris (sp?) of a new generation.

I have the distinct feeling that Fabio is way smarter than anyone is giving him credit for. That affable, goofy character is in no small measure an act he puts on to work his way through the game. And the only person who hasn't bought in is Na'.

What is he going to do if they do one of those head-on battle challenges?

I was convinced she was a mute until I heard her laugh or yell during last night's episode. I now suspect she's just really, really dumb. Hot, but dumb.

I felt like there was something there. Jill could have been an awesome competitor, but she was too willing to let Marty assume the leader position. In minimizing her own position, she became a nothing. And I'm thinking the same thing about Marty and Alina.

I have this fantasy of Fabio standing up at Tribal Council and announcing that he is actually a Harvard educated biochemistry student and that his whole dumb blond schtick was just something he came up with on the spot. Wouldn't that be a big mind fuck? If he was really articulate, and told everyone how he manipulated them, and how there were times when he almost broke character? It would be immensely satisfying to watch. I want Survivor to be that fun and insane.

That's what I'm afraid of. Now that they're merged, everyone is going to hope to bring Naonka as a Final Tribal competitor, because she's so loathsome. We'll never get rid of her!
So much bad strategy this season. Why are Holly, Marty, Jane, Dan, Alina, Benry and Fabio fighting for six place behind the Sash/Brenda/Naonka/Chase/Kelly alliance? Figure out the pecking order already and boot those smug creeps. At this point Nicaragua is ranking in the bottom of the SURVIVOR pile and a final five of those jackoffs would be unbearable. I don't think I've ever actively disliked as many cast members before.

What's even scrarier is that NaOnka isn't even close to being the most annoying. At least she's so psychotic she's entertaining. Plus, she keeps the drama going.

Am I the only one that feels like they're missing valuable insight regarding the whole Marty Vs. Jane war? I have no idea whose side of the argument is acurate.

Oh yeah, Alina's gone. Whatever.

Rewatching some past seasons the last little while has not helped this season's cause. Unless there's some radical power-shifting this season's done.
I feel like Alyna must have received the Victim Girl edit. The other players went on and on about what a strategizing, manipulative threat she posed, but--unless I missed something--I never got that from the show. She simply seemed like someone who got on the wrong side of an alliance early on and never recovered.

Half way into this season and I have to suspect there's something in the water in Nicaragua. I can't recall seeing so much nonsensical and illogical play in a Survivor series:

-NaOnka is caught and subsequently admits to stealing food, but is not immediately voted out at the next available Tribal Council.

-Danny, a veritable cripple who cannot run, jump, squat, kick and often appears to be barely capable of walking, is permitted to stay in the game and on a tribe desperately in need of wins.

-Marty is blindsided at Tribal Council and doesn't use his immunity idol. Rather than finishing the job, however, he is permitted to stay in the game WITH his immunity idol.

-Holly has a psychotic episode wherein she steals Danny's shoes, burys them in the ocean and then admits it to her Tribe. She is nevertheless permitted to remain in the game.

Yep. This season's just a headscratcher.
I think Jane's getting a "winner" edit. She's also the only remaining person left that's remotely entertaining. The back half of this season is going to be a drag.
Eh, we might have some fun watching Brenda's alliance cannibalize itself.

Definitely. I was kind of stunned when Benry called her a "Grade A dirt squirrel."

Seriously, that's pretty harsh. Although, the fact that it came from a former GIRLS GONE WILD cameraman probably took some sting off of it for her.
I'm officially rooting for Fabio now.

This season kind of eats. We're facing the grim prospect of a Naonka, Dan and Purple Kelly Final Three. Ugh.
Yeah, I suspected Marty was toast just because they spent most of the episode making it look like he'd be okay. Too bad, as he was - sad as it is to say - more charismatic than any of the power alliance members. I'm jumping over to Camp Fabio. Although a Dan win would better sum up the season as a whole.

I'm beginning to wonder if NaOnka being cast on the show will have serious permanent reprecussions on her life outside the game. Such a rag.

Chase breathes boring.
I'm sad to see Marty to go if only because I wanted to see the epic showdown between Na' and him upon returning to camp after Tribal Counsel.

Definitely rooting for Fabio at this point.

And I have to say that, outside of its effect of dissing the boys, I thought Chase made the right decision in choosing the girls in the reward challenge. Why? Because the boys had Dan. What a useless load in any sort of a physical challenge.

And I don't generally do this, but Alina at Tribal? DAMN!
I've seen none of this season, but while flipping through channels decided to watch the last 30 min of the show. I'm so baffled how any of these people are still around. And that NaOnka chick makes me ashamed to be Black. Holy shit. I just sat there with my jaw on the floor. from what little I saw, Jane seems the only person worth rooting for.

The thing that bugs me about Jane is how she would talk about Marty turning people against her when it seemed to me Marty's sole argument against her was, "People like her, if she makes the Final Three, she's winning, so she has to go." Nothing personal, just smart game-playing. But that somehow makes him a jerk? It seemed like her comment as she voted was way out of proportion to his behavior.
Or clever editing. The show is notorious for misappropriating people's words.
Dickson, I thought the same thing. The editing this season has been off, at best. See, also, my comments about the seemingly inexplicable distrust of Alina and the repeated--and from our standpoint, unfounded--claims of her being a schemer.

Div, if you were appalled by Na' last night. You should see some of the older episodes from this season. She's absolutely bonkers and it's all her, not the editing. Watch as she develops an irrational hatred of a one-legged woman; Thrill as she steals Fabio's socks; Be amazed as she has a freakout during a rainstorm. You'll believe a woman can have a psychotic breakdown on national television!!!
So any ideas on what is happening in this preview for next week?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ7cRAHd81Y

I'm sorry to see Marty go, although hopefully this will shake things up a bit and force some of these players to actually start playing the game.

Yeah, I stumbled upon Jeff's blog for episode 3 in which he talks about her knocking over a disabled woman to get to a clue. And that she apologized to the tribe for "smushing the bananas" but not to the woman whom she basically physically assaulted. Also, her excuse is that she is "hood" not "ghetto". Taken out of context, I would think this sounds worse than it actually was. But from people's reactions, I'm guessing not.

I'm guessing a flooded camp.
What happens is their camp burns down. I hate this season. I don't want anyone to win.

I was sad to see Marty go, but only because he hated so many people I hate. But I also kind of hated Marty, so whatever.
This season has been pretty poor, but things are picking up. There is no longer a dominant alliance whatsoever, so every week should be wide open. Curious to see what Naonka does next week that the preview made look like she killed somebody. Ha, I've come around to rooting for Naonka actually in this dull as shit cast. She's about the only entertaining member left, and coming from South Central LA, she's really done an amazing job of lasting this long with a bunch of white people, several of which would proudly be called hillbillies.

"Hey, we don't want the fire to go out. Let's surround it with wood so the wind doesn't get to it."

I only wish it had happened while they were sleeping so we could have seen them run around like panicked idiots.
Okay, as much as I almost loathe to admit it at this point, that was a pretty fantastic episode. It reminded me of the Rupert ouster from Pearl Islands where they made it fairly clear he was going right at the start and spent the rest of the episode detailing how the mutiny was going to work.

I'm glad Brenda's gone. Yeah, she was a sharp player and made some bold moves but she was really not charismatic. Just smug and entitled. That moment where Sash denied her the idol at TC was glorious.

Jane winning the IC was also a highlight. Moments like that are what makes the show special.

NaOnka may be batshit, but she's playing hard. Holly too to a certain extent. They deserve to stick around more than Dan, Kelly Purple,Fabio (Like the dude, but c'mon!) and fucking Chase.

I love that Jeff Probst took time in TC to highlight Purple Kelly's stupidity. And then smirked knowingly as she babbled on.

The camp fire was a non-event. A whole lot of hype for 2 minutes of whining.

As there are so few strategic players worth rooting for I'm gonna shift over to Camp Holly for now. I don't think she'll win, but at least she's not afraid to engineer major change within the game.
I still really enjoy the show, but NaOnka is maybe the most blatant example of a "staged performance" I've ever seen on Survivor. Tonight the whole conversation she had with Fabio played like to two crappy actors doing a first read-thru of there lines. I almost cracked up when he said something like "But, what about chase!???" Funny how that was the major storyline in tonight's script....err....episode.
Glad to see Brenda's bony ass booted. Didn't think Chase had it in him to actually go along and vote her out. He's still a big pile of sap though.
Purple Kelly's going to win this, isn't she?
I strongly suspect either Sash or Fabio are going to take it.

Yeah, I was joking about PK. I think this is Fabio's to lose at this point.
I'm putting my money on Fabio at this point. He's affable. As stated supra, I think he's smarter than he's letting on. He's the amoeba defense of Survivor: he just kind of rolls with it, never giving too much away until it's time to step into gear. And, importantly, the only person he's managed to piss off is Na' and she hates everyone, so that's no loss. Go, Fab.

Other thoughts:

-Danny has to go. The guy's as useless as has ever played the game. I cannot believe he's managed to last this long.

-One of the camera men should have made sure the fire burned their hut down, as well. Just to see what these damn fools what have done.

-When they showed the storms rolling in, I gleefully awaited another Na' super meltdown. Nope. Damn it.

-When Brenda called Na' out in Tribal Counsel, I gleefully awaited another Na' mouthy offensive. Nope. Damn it.
