Transformers the Movie: (1986) Appreciation thread - Page 5

There is a Chud chatroom. But it doesn't work very well for everyone. Besides, weren't we just going to do it here so the event could be preserved for posterity?
Absolutely. I may even print off the result and display on my wall.

One will stand and one will fall.

Let's do this.
STOKED.

Mate, I was gonna crack open a can if it had've been 9am for us! I think staging it in here's definitely for the best. Posterity's the word. It's a shame JLassiter can't stay for the whole thing, but I'm glad you can get to take part for at least a portion.

To mark the occasion, I'm changing my avatar. Anyone fancy joining me and getting a theme going? Could be your favourite 'Bot, maybe the one you most identify with? Might be a cool way of getting the word out there for any other interested parties to join us.

That sounds like a very good plan.
Awesome, cheers! There's definitely enough choices to go around. And so many cool ones to boot. Springer, Blaster, and Jazz being three stand-outs.

You should known I'd go for the villian though.
Of course, your deceptiveness!
I really hope Chris Miller gets in on this. The dude's already Ironhide, for cryin' out loud!
Leave it to you magnificent bastards to finally get me to change my avatar for the first time since I actually applied one. I went with Blurr because I too have a penchant for never shutting up especially when I was a child.

I seriously can't remember the last time I was this pumped for a Saturday, let alone a Saturday morning. I won't be joining in on the 9AM drinking but there will most certainly be a wake and bake sesh before this Saturday.

TIL ALL ARE ONE!
Coronation, Starscream? This is bad comedy!

Yeah, I went with Galvatron.
Bobby you continue to raise the bar. You are an inspiration to us all.

I snuck in there with Optimus, which I know is preposterously self indulgent but I couldn't help myself. Please forgive my delusions of grandeur.
I've added a little bit to my sig just to get the word out.
Mike: put the time in there (9am EST), just in case.

'Rolling out on November 20th' is frickin' brilliant, though.
My girl Sarah has returned......

But, at the time, I went with this elegant approach.

It's not so much that I consider myself aligned with the Decepticons. It's just that I always found their logo to be pretty bitchin'

I almost went with Unicron. But decided against it to avoid fat jokes.

I'm sensitive and I'm trying to lose some pounds. Leave me alone.
Just popped back in to check the time, thanks Judas.
This is outstanding folks.
I'm too self-conscious to tell a lot of Army stories online, because we've all seen too many Internet Rambos, but most of my personal anecdotes in real life relate back either to Fort Bragg or Afghanistan. Kup was a natural choice, a little joke at my own expense.
Just because.

Yeah I've rechecked this in the cold light of day and it'll only be midnight Judas you're right.

I'm pretty sure I'll be a bit pissed by that point just as a warning

This is gonna be fun.

...and yeah, since my darkest hour will be midnight Saturday, and this film is going to light it, I changed my av to....
Since I'm on PST, I'll be 6 am on... SATURDAY morning, right?
Hahahahaha. I just mentioned in passing what we were doing to a mate of mine and he got so excited by the idea he's joining the boards so that he can watch along.

If you build it...

Lookin' great guys! Lookin' new kinds of great!

I'm the same way, mate!

Blurr's a great choice, by the way. I'm glad to see he's getting the love he deserves. I always kind of identified with him.

You flatter me, sir, but thank you. Coming from your good self, that means a lot. I actually think Optimus is perfect for you. Doesn't come off as arrogant at all.

It really is. Thanks for picking up the mantle and running with it, guys. You're a credit to the boards.

Ken's post in the avatar thread should have already covered the "bulletin board" side of things as far as threads go. Sigging is a genius idea, too.

Bobby your enthusiasm is tangible, this is going to bring the house down.
Horrible thought Ken; with our swanky new avatars are we enemies now?

COME ON DOWN, AUTOBRAT!
Changed it again.

EDIT: Oh crap. Soundwave was already taken.... (scuttles downstairs)

EDIT2: I'll go with Rumble instead.
I thought you were working Grimlock in a big way, nooj, but Rumble's an excellent alternative.

Come on, everyone. Don't be shy. There are still so many great picks up for grabs... I wanna, at least, see Jazz, Springer, and Blaster (with "what's shakin'?" as the user title!)
Have I copped out by not going with anyone in particular? Hope not.
I dunno. I just felt like a change. A BAD change! And I may do it again before Saturday!

Not at all, man! Reminds me of Mark Hamilton from Ash, back when he used to rock a Decepticon logo sticker on his bass.

It's a veritable frenzy of costume changes...
Nooj, if you had your heart on Soundwave you can have him (I was actually going with Grimlock until I saw yours). Besides, I'm too un-chruzzimatic for Soundwave.
I'll stay with Rampage for now. But feel free to go with Grimlock if you'd like!

Such touchy-feely do-goodiness! None of us could be cold-hearted Decepticons!
I am down for this. Saturday morning or else! Just set a reminder in Google Calendar, so a text should wake me up in time.

Nothing beats, ehm, fishbot #7?
I kinda skimmed through this thread again. This has been a long time coming. The last 4 pages are of trying to save the date. This is happening!

Also, Ken... do you still want to know how Wheeljack dies!? You've made it this far. Hahahah.
Vince DiCola's soft piano renditions of his score (and some of Stan Bush's songs)!

Dare
Unicron's Theme

Such an awesome score. I know for a FACT that inane Korean variety/game shows used portions of the Attack on Autobot City cue. Disgrace! Dishonor! How dare they!? I was offended as a child!
The score also gets sampled on the excellent COLD VEIN album by Cannibal Ox, which excited me to no end when I heard it (and recognized it).

Jump to the 5:00 mark in this video, and you can hear it:

I see us more and Peter Cullin and Frank Welker, their respective voices and old friends.
And then Hugo Weaving had to get in the way!

I sort of think I know, I remember a Scene with RC dragging a robot that I think is Wheeljack i just can't be 100% certian.
That's basically it. We never see how it happened. Just a shot of his corpse along with another Autobot.

Me so callous.

But hope springs eternal on Wikipedia!
Quote:
In The Transformers: The Movie, set in the year 2005, Wheeljack was assigned to Autobot City on Earth. Wheeljack was presumed killed in the invasion of Autobot City by Megatron’s forces, and his injured or possibly deceased body is dragged to cover by Arcee. According to storyboards of un-made scenes he tried to help Mirage but was blasted several times by Thundercracker and Megatron along with Windcharger. In the same storyboards, it is Smokescreen, not Wheeljack, who lies dead, and Wheeljack himself can be seen alive during Devastator's attack. It is also worth noting that Wheeljack (and Windcharger's) bodies do not change colour to the grey black colour associated with Transformers when they die. Wheeljack also has an anomalous appearance in Transformers: Victory.
Hope you can make it Dave.
That's sort of beautiful Ken. Thank you.

Mcnooj, I'm loving that you have been transforming left right and centre. I have done my research and there were triple changing Transformers apparently. You can be one of those bad boys.

Bobby, I too am surprised that Jazz hasn't made an appearance. In fact, none of the autobots that featured in Bayformers have popped up. Interesting.
I hope you can make it too, Dave!

That has to just be a weird coincidence, doesn't it? How could people not love Jazz? Also, no classic Bumblebee? No "guiltyyyyyyy orrrrrrrr innoceeeeeeeeeeeeeent?" Come on, Sewer! We're puttin' on a show and we need your numbers.
Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong

thanks guys, really stoked for this
No Idle fan, Dave swoops right in with a bold move that lets us know he means business!

I'm sorry. It's the excitement. It's doing crazy things to me.
Fuck. Dave you win, why didn't I think of Wreck-Gar? I have a goatee and everything!
I mean, they got a Python to voice a Transformer while Weird Al Yankovic played in the background.

Just think about that for a sec.

...then realise what a gigantic pussy Michael Bay was.
