Cuz apparently the old one disappeared.

So, yeah, here ya go. Just remember that the CFL is way better in every way other than cheerleaders.
Then why isn't this the 2010 CFL Thread, huh? I, for one, would enjoy a lengthy discussion of the Grey Cup.
The Chargers might win a twogurlsoneGreycup.

Home opener against JAX is going to be blacked out locally.

Ah, irony.

Should be an easy win though. Jacksonville was outscored a combined 61-3 in its two west coast trips last year, at San Fran and at Seattle. Last win on the west coast came at Oakland in 2003.

Isn't the CFL, where the retired NFL players go? *asked innocently*
post #6 of 1867
No, it's where undrafted college players go.

We prefer to think of them as slightly used but still quality merchandise.

Honestly, I just prefer the three down system better than four.
Fitting that on a board owned by Nick Nunziata the NFL thread disappears mysteriously? hmmmmmm haha
post #9 of 1867
Yeah I have no idea why the thread disapeared. It was here this morning.
Did we ever find out what happened to it?

I dont know how we would find out. None of the mods would have deleted it. It seems to have just vanished.

Someone get M. Night on the phone.
Oh well, now we'll actually have to talk football instead of arguing whether Ines Sainz deserved it.

Here's hoping that the Bengals' maxim of the first game being no indication of the rest of the season holds true. Or at least, here's hoping they come to the stadium ready to play Sunday instead of waking up halfway through the game and suddenly realizing they're playing football.

So Yahoo Sports published a report that the 49ers coaching staff was bickering among themselves, in part because the offensive coordinator is so absent-minded, he doesn't communicate the playcalls correctly.

Now, Singletary's pissed, not because it's true, but because the truth got out. However, it led to this fantastic quote from the OC, Jimmy Raye, attempting to defend himself on charges that he might be a rambly geezer:

Quote:
"I think I speak with good diction,'' Raye said. "I don't garble anything. I think I express myself pretty well. So whoever Yahoo! is, maybe he should come call the plays.''
Wonderful.
Word is the OC would know what he wanted to call, but had to flip through pages to find the name of the play.
Specifically:
Quote:
According to multiple sources familiar with the circumstances, the real problem has been more than a year in the making and became more significant following changes the 49ers made within the coaching staff this offseason.

In Singletary’s first full season last year, offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye, one of the more respected veteran coaches in the league, was calling plays from the coach’s box upstairs. Raye would call plays down to offensive assistant Jason Michael, who would then send the play into the quarterback. That system worked effectively even at times when Raye struggled to find exactly the right play or say it exactly the right way.

“It seems like Jimmy calls plays from memory a lot of the time and not exactly the way it’s written down,” said one of the aforementioned sources, adding that the plays often get garbled. “He knows the plays and he knows the right thing to call, but he’s fumbling through his papers and it’s like, ‘Hey, we need to get a play called.’ ”
Regardless, the main lesson is this: Bet against the 49ers.

The 49ers should only have one play.

1) Run Frank Gore

And yes, I'm saying this as a fantasy owner who has him in multiple leagues.

Not gonna be too upset if Pittsburgh loses tomorrow. We normally give up one game within our first three, and even with Dixon, I can't see us losing to Tampa Bay.

That said, no Titan can hold our Dixon! I'll gladly take a win!
But can the Steelers hold on to a Mr. Johnson? I think the Steelers can pull it out...No need for the Titans to go up 2-0 in the AFC South.
In football off the field news, four teams have deunionized and are expecting the rest of the teams in the NFL to follow suit.

Indy, Dallas, New Orleans, and Philly are voting to stop being a union.

The idea stated is that if the NFL lock the players out, the players will have an ability to sue the league (something that can't occur with a union).

I have no clue if this is a good or bad idea.

I THINK they can. I don't KNOW that they can. I mean we typically give up one of our first three (i.e. - 2005 - Pats, 2004 - Gayvens, 2008 - Eagles) so I fully expect it. I will say, if we go 3-1 over this stretch, watch out!

Nick's picks of Week 2 of the National Football League. It's where the winners are in bold, I try to defend my crazy/half-brain fantasy football moves and I always, always have the Chargers losing. (Hey, I was right last week!)

Pittsburgh @ Tennessee: Can the Steelers defend against Mr. Johnson?
Miami @ Minnesota: Well, Farve and Co. have to be on the same page of the playbook right now right?
Arizona @ Atlanta: This game is a coin flip.
Baltimore @ Cincinnati: I have Benson on my FF team, so I'm pulling for him. The Cinci offence kind of woke up late in last weeks game. Will the Ravens have better ball movement?
Kansas City @ Cleveland: Anyone remember that Snickers commercials where the end zone painter guy misspelled the team name and ends up painting the Chef's? That was funny.
Chicago @ Dallas: Da Bears don't get lucky this week.
Philadelphia @ Detroit: Have to feel bad for the Lions. They were robbed last week. This week? They will be Vicked. See what I did there...
Buffalo @ Green Bay: If you're in the Chud survival league, do what I do. Pick whoever is playing the Bills.
Tampa Bay @ Carolina: The Panthers had chances last week for a victory.
Seattle @ Denver: Now is when we'll see if this Seahawks team is for real or not.
St. Louis @ Oakland: If the Rams win is that considered a upset?
Houston @ Washington: The Redskins will be wise to Foster and plug the holes.
New England @ N.Y. Jets: While I dislike the Patriots, they did one hell of a job last weekend. As for the Jets, well, I I'm sure the F-Bombs from Rex Ryan where a thing of beauty.
Jacksonville @ San Diego: Don't act surprised. I would love to see Rivers go all baby again this week. I love that shit.
N.Y. Giants @ Indianapolis: Am I biased? Yes. Hell, I'll be AT the game. But I really do see the Colts playing hard to win this one. Peyton does not make the same kind of mistakes that Moore does.
New Orleans @ San Francisco: This is my upset pick of the week! It's crazy but it can happen. Unless the 49'ers shit the bed again.
SF over the Saints? You're a brave man.
MoonBaseNick, Regardless of whom wins the...Giant/Colt game, Manning will be the...Winning QB!

Please explain your thought process? What did you see in the 49ers that suggests this?
Cutler is going to the hospital today.
Tastes pretty bitter don't it, Philly?
What does, the poor coaching by Reid?

It's still Detroit. They are bad enough to find a way to lose.
I was only talking about the catch taken away on "process".
It wasn't a catch though.
That, however, was offensive pass-interference.
True that. That was a pretty big missed call.
FARVE!!

As for the 49ers beating the Saints. There is no reason for this decision, hey, it could happen! I was not too empressed with the Saints O, but it was against the Vikings.. So the game can go either way. Blow out or a close one.
Holy crap Josh Freeman.
The Steelers released Byron Leftwich yesterday. Today, Dennis Dixon leaves the game with a knee injury. Oops.

The plan was to bring Byron back tomorrow anyway. But, hey, we got Antwaan Randle El if we need him.
Oh I know that, but I wonder if they'd rather have him in right now instead of Charlie Batch.
Favre is looking really old now.
Some people are grumbling about the Bucs taking shots at the end zone on that last drive, but I love it. The only thing better than a 20-7 lead is a 27-7 lead.

That and he's looking like Farve. A 0-2 start for the Vikings isn't good. The same for the Cowboys.
And now we're making a rookie QB look like Joe Montana.
Looks like Dallas won't be going to the SB in their stadium.
M.I.A., take it to the house.
Hell of a goal line stand by the Bucs, and now we just picked off Clausen and that should do it.
Roy Williams(dal) sucks. He catches the ball for 1st downs and celebrates it like it's something special. THen with the game on the line he fumbles. Loser.

Why is Clausen in?
I don't what is more surprising the Vikings and Cowboys who both appear to be starting 0-2 or the Dolphins and Bucs both starting 2-0?? Sorry Dickson.
