Hey, I'M surprised we're 2-0. I figured we'd get run to death in this game.

What's really encouraging is that this is two weeks in a row now where the Bucs defense has come out after halftime and just shut the opponent down. They're making good adjustments, and that speaks to good coaching.
And should we read anything into Minnesota running the ball six times in a row down near the goal line? A no-confidence vote for Favre?
I think that had less to do with Farve and more to do with having Adrian Peterson. The three interceptions certainly didn't help.
Both Farve and Romo look like deer in headlights. Farve at least has the excuse that he's 40 and his main receiver is out, I don''t know how Dallas is going to spin this loss.
Steelers run defense looks to be the best in the league after what they did to Tennessee. Not that the rest of the defense was bad, but that's 2 very good running backs in a row (including arguably the best) who they made look real average.
Johnson did have a huge run called back on an iffy penalty.
The Vikings are hit by multiple...earthWAKES, by Miami LB Cameron, and the rest of the...Dolphin D, resulting in...2 ints, 1 fumble resulting in a td by rookie LB Koa Misi and 2 stops on...4th Down! Miami's O, needs to get...Offensive, instead of, O...Ffensive. Ronnie and Rickey nearly cause a loss, by their...2 fumbles.
They had three interceptions. Jason Allen had two and Vontae Davis had a circus INT on the goal line when Harvin bobbled it.
matches, Ooops! You're right! Still, just an...Awesome performance by, Miami's...Dee-Fense!
Turnvers killed the Cowboys. Tipped Balls cost Romo 2 INT's. The Bears survived an onslaught early and made big plays. Ware was a beast in the game.

Cowboys couldn't run at all and got some cheap yardage late.

With games @ Hou, @GB, NO, @IND it's not looking good for them Cowboys. And that doesn't could the Home/Away with the Eagles and Giants. They will be lucky to be 9-7.
That is why you must play Moss. Holy shit what a catch.
Really nice one handed catch by THE SLOUCH.
Jaguars have forced three turnovers by the Chargers and are getting manhandled 21-6, even with Ryan Matthews going out with an injury. The commentators actually said "The Jaguars could have not played a worse half of football."

Good news? They've scored more points than they did in their two west coast games combined last year. Progress!
Looks like the JETS have found an offense.

Soooo..is Washington just playing great D, or is this a let down week by the Texans?

I blame Brady's hair.
I can't tell if it's the Pats D just not showing up, or the Jets O finally finding themselves that's making this unbearable to watch for me...god dammit, stop something you guys!

ETA: god fucking dammit. Why not just let em walk in? Save yourselves the effort.
In my Fantasy league, I had this theory. I'll start the Pats D..you know..since the JETS could not move the damn ball. Wel.....OPPS... ha ha

I dropped SD for NE. not just for this week but I like NE match ups in future. Still should win.
In my Fantasy, yeah, I should... but wow..Brady looks terrible today. congrats on the JETS.

He had 12 straight 100 yard games and they held him to 34. Getting into iffy penalties won't mean anything when we look at year end stats. Michael Turner for 42 yards in week 1, Johnson for 34 yards in week 2. That's a pretty impressive way to start a season.
lol Texans. I'm assuming they're releasing their kicker?
That's the only reason I can think of for punting in OT instead of letting your kicker try a 53 yarder.
TO worked. Love the strategy.
ugh Tough break.
I'd rather see the Texans win, though.
I hate that timeout shit seconds before the kicker goes. It's such crap.
You see how Shanahan didn't pull the same pussy move? Yeah.

editing to add, the Texans deserved to win the game, Skins can't give up 20 unanswered points and expect to win. At least the Skins look like an actual team this year which is nice.

Holds tend to spring big runs. As it allows the back to get to full speed and run through a hole that wouldn't have existed if he was slowed by contact.
The Bucs being 2 and 0 is one of htose things that makes football great. A team that was horrible the previous season and made no moves that would suggest a turn around. Yet they are now undefeated 1/8 of the way through the season. Doesn't happen in any major sport but football !

Shanahan is the guy who made that move famous a few years ago, when he iced Janikowski in exactly the same way.

Now come on, they beat Cleveland and Carolina, not exactly huge upset wins. Now if they can win 2 of their next 3 (Pittsburgh, Cinncinatti, and New Orleans) then I can believe they are for real.

Yeah very true, but my point was there is always hope in the NFL. Every year some team rises from the depths to make the playoffs or at least is in the running. I just love seeing census favorites stumble and dark horse teams rise up. It makes things more interesting.

Likely they can take it next week. Like I said, we're famous for dropping one of our first three. And I thought it'd be today.

I dropped Chicago for New England. Of course, I had plenty of other players dog it for my team today, so that wasn't a killer.

When you were 3-13 last year and went 9 weeks before winning your first game that season, 2-0 is 2-0 no matter who you beat.

I like the Bucs' chances a lot more with Batch or Leftwich starting. But the defense scares the hell out of me. I'm pretty sure this is the game where Freeman will look like he's only starting his 11th game.
Hey, for the Bucs becoming the "good bad" team is a nice step up!

(Note: the "good bad team" is a team who is actually bad, but can pretty consistently beat other bad teams. They just can't beat good teams. These teams can easily make the playoffs. Example: the Bears under Grossman making the Super Bowl a fears back.)

Contrast to the "bad good" team, a team who is actually good in that they can beat anyone, but is erratic enough that they can also lose to anyone. These teams usually find a way to blow up and miss the playoffs, or exit early. Example: the Cowboys (pick any recent season).

Last year, the Bucs were just "bad", so "good bad" is a big improvement!

I think they take it. It really doesn't matter. Out of conference loss, 2-1 for everyone in the division, and a showdown with Baltiwhore the following week.

Kind of feel bad for Eli. Man was a sandwich.

The Dolphins have been a "good bad team" for a few years now, bookending their 1-15 season in which they were just a "bad bad team".

I'm just saying we all scene our share of teams who go 2-0 in the first two games and then maybe will win 2 more the rest of the season. I'm also in general more impressed by KC being 2-0 and think they actually may have a shot at the playoffs.

The AFC and NFC West are two divisions that are wide open.

It's kind of annoying how often people like to just discredit that Bears team from 2006 all because of Grossman.

With Arizona coming back to the gutter, it leaves it for the 49'ers and Seahawks to make a move.

The AFC West has always been up for grabs during the middle of the year. Denver tends to have a lead until they implode towards the end of the year and the Chargers just take it.

I need to see more out of Cassel for me to fully believe that Kansas City is going to do something this year. That Chargers win was impressive, but beating the Browns should not really count. Kind of like beating the Bills.
SO pleased (and surprised) to see my beloved Chiefs at 2-0. Granted, I'd have like them to beat the Browns by more but hey, I'll take what I can get. It's been a rough few years to be a Chiefs fan. Actually, it's ALWAYS rough to be a fan. It was almost worst back when they consistently made the playoffs only to blow it.

Still, not counting chickens just yet. I still think they'll have a struggle to make a wildcard spot.
The way things are going, a sub-500 team could win the West.
Hell, for either the NFC or AFC.

The whole icing the kicker thing is bush league.

I didn't notice it till i got home from the game, but I wonder what happened with the whole Brandon Jacobs helmet in the stands thing. Does the fan get to keep the helmet?

Eh, I don't mind it. Part of the game and all that. You do have to give up/waste a time-out for such a stunt so it kind of goes both ways depending on the game.
Nobody complains when someone calls a time out right before the QB is about to snap the ball. If there's not a problem with that, there shouldn't be a problem with doing the same thing with a kicker.

Want to make this a moot point? Make the second kick.
Yeah, that's another reason I like icing the kicker. Because the flipside is the kicker REALLY gets to send a "fuck you" to the other team if he makes it after.
I was just pulling for the Redskings. Icing is common, it's just annoying. But yeah, I do enjoy when the kicker does the "FUCK YOU" and makes it.

As the resident AZ apologist here, I don't think AZ will be in the gutter for long. A decent QB could've changed that game yesterday. Unfortunately, Anderson is not a decent QB and I'm not on the Max Hall bandwagon...

I have to wonder if there are many instances where the kicker gets fucked up by NOT being iced. Like it's a situation where they're sure it'll happen, and then it just doesn't and he's like "fuck... I wasn't ready to kick yet."

I doubt it, but it's funny to imagine.
