Ugh.

This doesn't exactly scream Proyas' name to me, and I'm a little confused as to how he got saddled with the project. Not that I necessarily even support an adaptation of the poem at all in the first place, but seeing the two together makes me scratch my head. Paradise Lost seems to me to be more than Proyas can chew.

Can't muster any enthusiasm for this. Focusing the whole movie on the battle between Michael and Lucifer kind of misses large swaths of the thematic intent of the work, and risks reducing one of the great pieces of early modern English lit to a war movie that happens to take place in heaven.

Why even call the damn thing Paradise Lost if the aim of the film isn't to be about the loss of Paradise?

Keep Akiva Goldsman the fuck away and we might indeed end up with something watchable.

Precisely.

Sooooo, basically this is going to be what The Prophecy could have been if it had a bigger budget? Hell, even that movie had some great character moments, great characters period and lots of cool stuff going on.

It all depends at this point on the script, obviously, and the producers involved. Legendary Pictures has a pretty decent record of getting behind some fairly risky pictures.

Somewhere, the creator of the Groosalug Lucifer trailer is reading this and dying just a little bit more on the inside.

The Prophecy was pretty cool and this could be as well. I thought Knowing wasn't terrible and Proyas did a nice job.

Color me curious.

This upcoming project fits nicely for Proyas after the last half hour of Knowing which was terrible....
