THE CAVE UNDER KICKASS HILL, by The Wizard's Keys

Steve Murphy and I have decided to do an album all by our lonesome. Fun, loose, and little catchy rockers. No keyboards, just us playing all the business and roughing it.

1. Piss Drunk
2. Incentive to Bleed
3. Unicorns
4. In the Morning
5. I Sold My Life
6. Rumors and Tumors
7. The Pope of Checking Shit Out
8. Evil News
9. Less Like You
10. Uncle Daddy

11. Mozart Junior

12. I Like All Ages

13. Before the Shit Fight

14. Shit Fight

15. Cleaning Up The Shit Fight

I need an album cover for 'The Cave on Kickass Hill', should anyone have an inkling. This is a placeholder.

Incentive to Bleed - 3:02 - MP3 FILE (right click and SAVE AS)

Nick - Rhythm Guitar (L & R), Bass, Vocals
Steve - Guitar (Solo, middle), Drums, Backing

Sakes alive I wanna celebrate my life
it's half over before it's begun
I sigh every time I shut my eyes at night
another day spent treading in fear

There's no incentive to bleed

Still in
Covered
Basking in overprotection

Every time I need to go escape my life
I feel the pressure of the unknown
Lock the door, feel secure and still wonder "if"
another day spent living in fear

There's no incentive to bleed

Still in
Covered
Basking in overprotection

I own my life

Another song about a disgruntled falconer...

Piss Drunk - 3:52 - MP3 FILE (right click and SAVE AS)

Nick - Drums, Vocals, Guitar solo (2nd half)
Steve - Guitar, Guitar solo (1st half), Bass, Backing

This glove is way too bloated
tired of waiting for your attention
savior, I'm looking for a sign here

Formless apparition in a tight dress
cozy with a glass in hand
save me, hit me again and again

Seasoned for love and fit like honey
I'm Piss Drunk and I need your body
Fueled by the glove and love of money
I'm Piss Drunk and I need your body
Oh yeah, Oh no, OH YEAH!
I'm Piss Drunk. Well I'm Piss Drunk!

My hand is lonely and unamused
busy, dizzy, and in the news
lazy, and grab the drink again

Seasoned for love and fit like honey
I'm Piss Drunk and I need your body
Fueled by the glove and love of money
I'm Piss Drunk and I need your body
Oh yeah, Oh no, OH YEAH!
I'm Piss Drunk. Well I'm Piss Drunk!

I'm ready for love!
Hit me again and again!
I'm Piss Drunk

Good show so far chaps, sounds like a tankload of stripped down, shit-kicking fun to me. Incentive To Bleed is action stations in the best way right from the get-go - high gain distortion chopping on dead strings and feedback into that ace bam-bam-bam-bam combination lead/chord riff. I really like Steve's drumming throughout and the chugging dropped D riffage after "There's no incentive to bleed" too, and in the breakdown just before 2:00. In fact that whole breakdown is sweeeeeet. In fact the whole song is.

The sleazy grooves of Piss Drunk should be pumping out of the stereo of a hotrod cruising melting highways in the mid-afternoon sun or the amps of a greasy roadhouse band. Or maybe the stereo of a tank. I feel like I need a shower after hearing it, but in a good way.

Thanks, fella. So good to have comments at all but yours are legendary.
I've neglected really diving into this stuff so far, but I'm going to give all these a good listen and comment more. Not that I'm some great music critic or anything.

But as a guitarist/music-production enthusiast/amateur I'm highly interested in what you guys are doing.
Nice work, fellas! Really like the first two songs and can't wait to hear the rest.
I'm with J Mak. like what I heard thus far. More traditional and, dare I say...normal than I expected from you two goofs. But very catchy, and the backing vocals are spot on, Murph.
Is that like your stoner rock album? If so, I'm for it!
First off, thank you for the wonderful comments, all. It's really appreciated and always nice when your work is acknowledged!

As for the album, we realized that the stuff we are doing on our own is very old-fashioned rock ass, in a good way. So we're sticking to that vibe throughout... hopefully.

Personally, I hope everyone likes Unicorns just as much as the other stuff!

I believe in unicorns

I believe in unicorns
I believe in love
I believe in setting up traps
to catch a horse from above

A barren, creepy tune, and it sounds great. It's been a favorite of mine since we recorded it.

I just sold my life
slow and nice
efficiently bereaved

Slowly crushing life and breathing

I just sold my life
rolled in spice
sufficiently unnerved

Sifting in the ground beneath me

Here I go again
soldier and friend
conveniently relieved

Sans the taming

The rumors are true
The tumors show through
wrinkled polyester
Things ain't been the same
since we changed the game
and sipped the volatile cocktail

[Steve]
Bloody buttons involuntarily
We came to be electricity

through combustion and chance
the chemical dance
we learned to live the nighttime ways
The rumors are true
The tumors show through
wrinkled polyester

Rumors and Tumors,
Loaded Guns
Rumors and Tumors,
exploding

Things ain't been the same
since we changed the game
and sipped the volatile cocktail

Wowser....."Evil News" is awesome. Everything except for the vocals reminds me of prime Iron Maiden, and it's Nick's most deft guitar work yet.

Chock full of grunt. For such a simple riff it really holds strong and never wears out its welcome. Both gat sounds are in that perfect overdrive zone combining smoothness and dirtiness. Actually so are the vocals. Love the throb in the thud of the kick drum and the wet splash of the cymbals too. And the melody of the repeated "Call me Uncle Daddy" to open the chorus is just what the witchdoctor ordered.

I did think it could be about 30 seconds shorter, but otherwise, I loved it. Awesome tone and quite meaty riff.

Everyone who has ears are welcome for the barrage of new Wizard's Keys material. This is a hell of an album, a HELL of an album, and what better way to end this triumph than with the much ballyhooed Shit Fight trilogy?

Folks need to get in this. The album is done. Listen!

Oh yeah, I like the Shit Fighting a lot. Before is almost as pretty as the sun rising over the Pacific at Tairua. Love the way the sounds are at odds but complimentary at the same time - the electrotech drums with the organic vibe in the wash of the reverbed and delayed gats.

The beats and main riff on Shit Fight are eighty ton of filthy voodoo rock power in such perfect, primal simplicity. Great vocals too.

Cleaning Up doesn't quite crank my gears like the others, I think because the rhythm section is a little too far back in the mix. The kick drum especially seems lost out the back compared to the previous tracks and those muscular gat riffs could really put the boot in if that kick drum was brought up a couple of notches. For example in Shit Fight it's awesome. It's one of that track's most deadly weapons.

For the most part though I really dig the production on all the house band stuff from 2011 and the best tunes are champions of my mp3 players.
