Yes he did.

This not only needs its own thread, you could make a case it needs its own sub-forum.

Some choice parts from the article:
Quote:
Pratchett, who has Alzheimer's disease, also said he had thrown in "several pieces of meteorites — thunderbolt iron, you see — highly magical, you’ve got to chuck that stuff in whether you believe in it or not".
And
Quote:
He said: "It annoys me that knights aren’t allowed to carry their swords. That would be knife crime."
Fucking Alzheimer's. You sure picked up a great brain to go after, you piece of shit.

But what a feast.

Did you see that BBC two-parter? Heartbreaking. Guy was beating himself up over not being able to sustain his usual concentration for an 8 - 12 book signing session.

Yeah it sucks big time. I still feel even with the knighthood he has never really gotten the credit he deserves.

But making your own sword is all kinds of awesome.

And this is the sword:

They should give out a sword to everyone who gets an Alzheimer's diagnose. Is Pratchett still writing? I'm guessing yes because of his ability to come up with this awesome idea.
The BBC-doc showed a very brave and humble man. What really hit me was how he found comfort in the thought that when his disease has progressed too far, he won't be around to see it. And how his first reaction to his diagnose was "good that it wasn't for his wife".

I'm halfway through Unseen Academicals right now. Normally I prefer the stories about Vimes and the Watch but this one is a couple of new characters and the wizards and it has its hooks into me big time.

Pratchett's not just the only fantasy author I read, he's the only fiction author these days. He's the best.

Count me in on the "fuck Alzheimer" group here; Pratchett is easily my favorite author, and Vimes is pretty much my favorite book character.
