Yay! Fuck Billy Mitchell!

That picture of Mitchell makes it all worth it. God damn I hate that man.

Good on you, Steve.

This is a never-ending battle (that will end in 30-40 years).

I don't know, surely at some point one of these guys is going to max out the game? Or can you just hop over barrels a little longer than the other guy ad infinitum?
There is a time limit to each level so theoretically there is a "max score."

But I love my hate of all things Billy Mitchell.

To his credit, Billy Mitchell has some of the best neckties.

Once the kill screen hits, you can't get any more points. Wiebe could get to the kill screen but couldn't get the points.

I want to watch THE KING OF KONG again. Love that movie like a teddy bear.

Yeah it's not like Pac-Man, which has a definitive perfect top score (which of course, Billy Mitchell attained first)- they're just trying to rack up as much points as possible over the levels in the game. They'll always be trying to one-up each other by a few more points. Course even that Pac-Man score is being contested by people trying to get it the fastest, so there's always something stupid to fight for.

I had a suspicion when I saw that parenthetical I was going to find myself looking at myself.

Still think Galaga competitions would be more interesting.

Hahaha. I only just read that, while trying to find Jeremy's review on the site.

One of the most impressive things about this whole thing is the fact that Donkey Kong is SO FUCKING HARD. When I took a trip up to Funspot in NH I tried playing on the machine used in the movie, and after about 5 quarters couldn't get past the first level.

I just watched this movie because of this article. It'll be my next M.O.D.

Spoiler: I'm with Renn.

Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous (resited the urge to type "reDONKulous.")

Funspot was great though. Nerd heaven. And we ended up staying in the same cabin as Brian Kuh. We went back and watched the film after our trip and freaked out.

No Ladybug Cabaret, though. They must have brought that with them.

Yay for Weibe. Billy Mitchell is a turd.

Love this flick. Showed it to my wife recently. She was aghast at the nerdery on display and at BM's (lol) douchiness.

Go Weibe!

Fun fact: my wife beat the Dr. Mario machine's high score when we went. That place is awesome.

Just saw this movie on Netflix the other night, absolutely loved it.

Even with some of the liberties taken by the filmmaker, it actually shows the essence of "Billy". An arrogant, manipulative, delusional jerk who comes off as a sore loser.

BTW, on Donkey Kong max score ... one of the issues is that there seems to be quite a bit of randomization in the game so it is hard to determine what the max score could be.

Yes. There is a slight pattern to each level, but very slight. On the first level (barrels), one is at the mercy of how many barrels Kong releases, when they are released, and when their travel coincides with the fireballs advancing up to a hammer level for maximum points. It's literally the difference of 5000 points, on that one board alone, which are out of the gamer's control.
