Premiere this coming Thursday and looks like Matt Damon and Elizabeth Banks will be back. For the moment. Looking forward to the live episode coming up.

This show was no where near as bad as people like to think it was last year.

Looking foreward to seeing this back to back with Community.

Did they just make a joke about Pete raping his wife? It seemed an awful lot like they just made a joke about Pete raping his wife.
"No! It okay! Don't be cry!"

Ah, good to have you kids back.
Yeah, Pete stole the episode. That wife raping joke was terrific.

And horrific. And amazing. And hilarious.
Liz tongue-lapping that bowl of Cheerios was the biggest laugh for me. I'd love it if Damon could stay on as a semi-recurring character like the Beeper King.
It really paled to the Community premiere, but this was a lot of fun. I busted out laughing and blerging so hard during those shots of Pete's Wife Bouncing.

Alec Baldwin IS Daddy Bear.
"something called . . . Jackfest?!"

Welcome back, Jack and Liz' fucked up relationship.
I still can't believe Fey thought that rape joke was a good idea.
Man, I thought this episode was hilarious (and I still can't believe they got away with the wife raping joke), and I laughed pretty hard throughout the entire thing. I know a lot of people lament the fact that the show is not as grounded as reality as it was in the first season, but I love the off-kilter wacky shit they've been doing since then. It just appeals to my sense of humor, and this episode was a great return from last season, which I really liked.
I guess Damon will be back October 14th? 'Cause Liz said, you know, "See you October 14th".
Every time my love for this show seems to be waning, they either pull me back in, or I just have to remember that it's either watch this or watch some trash like Outsourced or Bleep My Dad Says, or some other terrible bullshit.

So in conclusion, so happy this is back.
Now, maybe it was the bourbon, but this episode slayed me. I even found Jenna--who usually annoys the hell outta me--funny in her uber-producer capacity. And, yeah, did Fey really okay that rape joke? If so, it's a brave new world out there. I kept thinking, "Aaaah, he's Observing and Reporting her! Ahhh!" except that Anna Farris was actually somewhat conscious (which makes 30 Rock slightly more subversive. WTF?).

So, how long until a Pete's bouncing wife gif pops up?
Man did Baldwin bring it in his gay flirting scene.
This is honestly the first I'm hearing of anyone not liking season 4. This upsets me. Anyway, I'm so glad that this and Community are back to back and I can safely ignore The Office and Outsourced on it's own block.

"Those Starwinds are nice. I mean, the bathtubs are so much cleaner than at home. I don't know how they do it."

"They clean them"

You rang?

Remember, kids, it's not rape if Pete's wife gave permission for him to have at her while she sleeps. (But I bet she didn't sign off on the extra aggression! That was one bouncy sleeping lady.)
How the hell did that make it past the censors?
Dr. Murder, you're this close to a wedding proposal.

Seriously, that's so wrong, but so, so funny. I just burst out laughing in my office.
What really skeeves me out about it is that it seems like Fey stuck an ALWAYS SUNNY joke into 30 ROCK. Just seems really out of character for the show.
Hey, the gif is gone!
Aw man, I shouldn't have called it rape.gif

The kicker is they fucking showed it twice.

Twice!
Even after Liz mentioned how awful the image was!

That's exactly why it worked for me. That extra cut away hammers home "yes, we went there, and yes it's awful!". Sort of like the way Louis CK laughs to himself while "defending" rape in his act ("Well, I mean, if I want to orgasm in your body, and you're not going to let me, what choice do I have?") They didn't try to pass off the rape joke as something other than a rape joke.

Didn't really fit tonally, though.

Loved this episode. The pictures drawn by Pete's kid killed me.

Are you guys on Facebook?

Damon does some of the best fake crying/wailing I've ever heard. That dude can ACT
post #31 of 423
That immediately reminded me of the tantrum he threw on Entourage. He is a fantastic guest star.
My one problem with 30 Rock guest stars, as opposed to something like Arrested Development, is that they never play characters, they always just play a version of themselves (or, more often, exactly themselves). Jon Hamm almost broke this rule, but not quite.

"I want grown-up love!" KILLED me.

When's the live episode? In two weeks, I think?
Enjoyed the Studio 60 joke in the writers credits of TGS. I missed most of last season, so i'm extra pumped for this one. Very good Start.
Loved the Barefoot Contessa shoutouts.
Maybe I'm just crazy but that rape joke didn't really seem like a rape joke to me.

I mean, Pete loves his wife and he's never been portrayed as a violent character. And she was asleep and she sure didn't seem to mind, the joke seemed to be more about their weird relationship and lackluster sex life than rape.

And this episode was hilarious, this is the first I'm hearing that people didn't like season 4 too. I actually gasped when they did that first cut from Kenneth to that other Page who looked like him, that was creepy! And Jack coming on to that gay guy had me in stitches.

Also, "It okay! Don't be cry!"

So glad it's back.
For some reason Liz waking up saying "No Tom Jones" had me cracking up.

Hell yeah! It reminds of how good I am at handling people having emotional outbursts.

Jack flirting with James was fucking hilarious. Damon's stuff in this only intensifies my man crush on him. I can't believe I used to dislike him.

And I can't believe people are having problems with the rape joke. It was neither that far out there, nor out of character for this show. All the characters in this are sexually dysfunctional.
Jack's not sexually dysfunctional. Jack is awesome at sex.
Jack wants to fuck his mother so much, I'm surprised it hasn't been turned into a side plot yet.
Jack and James were great. Same as Damon. I was LOL with this, something I usually don't do. I loved he considered being a pilot not so good for his self-esteem.
My lol moment was when Matt Damon said he got angry during the Giants game because Geico has too many spokespeople. So true!
This cash cab sequence is great.
With the Cash Cab appearence tonight and last weeks Food Network gags, i feel like this season of 30 Rock will offer lots of jokes based on shit i watch when i get home from work. Pumped!

And Kenneth's Tracy mask was distrubing and great.
Damn fine episode of 30 Rock. All the main players had a good, funny storyline, and a nice use of a guest star. Solid stuff. Cash Cab sequence is killer, but Jack's advice videos were just as hilarious. "The backflip is 90% confidence."
This season so far been great. It may be because of minimal Kenneth and Jenna. Last week had Jenna but it wasn't the usual "Jenna is needy and vain" storyline.
Between Jack's monologue to his son and Tracy's Cash Cab appearance, this was the best 30 Rock in like two seasons. Really funny stuff.

See, I like Kenneth (and Jenna's really grown in me in rewatching), but scaling him back is a really good idea. He's exactly the kind of minor character who can get really old with overuse. Hopefully, even as he gets reinstated at NBC, they use him for the occasional hilarious joke instead of Kenneth overkill.
Cash Cab! My friend was on that show and lost it all on the Video Double. I loved everything about this episode. Paul Giamatti was great. Hope he makes a few more appearances. Pete's throwaway lines about where he got his shirt and the bar he found called "Home" had my dying. As was Liz's confident "It's corn!" when Pete asked what was in her teeth. I don't remember last season that well. Why does Kenneth no longer work for NBC?
