Oh yeah. Thanks for the reminder.

Did the crystal trophies behind Jack in his "My Son" video signify the Fortress of Solitude to anyone else?

"The secret to a healthy head of hair is Dove... blood."

Great work from Giamatti. I don't think of him as a big guy so it took me a moment to place him.

Oh, and Kenneth got Fred Allen's autograph. In 1947.

Loved Giamatti's 'getting shot' act.

CORN!
Loved that a good portion was Slumdog Millionaire Cash Cab.

500 quatloos for a gif of Grizz's "And reading!"

"'And the tree was happy.' Shel Silverstein was a communist."

"Death to Lincoln!"

Totally on fire tonight.

Agreed. Just a fantastic episode.

Yes, 500 quatloos to Dr. Murder!
Baldwin was hot fire tonight:

"The song 'You're so vain' was written...by me."

That and using Lutz as his demonstration partner. I forget, what ever happened to his assistant Jonathan?

There's no question that the whole sequence was an homage to the first Superman movie. I'm 99.9% positive Baldwin kicked it off with a vague Brando-as-Jor-El imitation. There might have been a musical cue, as well.

Not bad at all. I still like this show, but the manic energy of first 2 seasons really died down. It's still fun, but instead of a full-on riot it's occasionally hilarious. Which is still better than mostif not all comedies airing right now.
Jack was voted "most". It killed me. And I am thrilled at the Grizz Reading gif, excelsior.

I don't think we watched the same episode last night. That thing moved so fast and switched between the three main stories so rapidly and so tightly it was almost a blur.

had to pause the Tivo I was laughing so hard.

That and Jack's Shel Silverstein comment were the two moments I kept rewinding to. Jack being all warm and fuzzy and then so earnestly branding Silverstein a communist was just such a perfect bit of timing.
All of it was great. But Giamatti was legendary. His awesome ponytail better be back.

Yesterday was the exception. I'll gladly eat my words if the whole season's like that.
That's one of the best ways to do a cameo: someone who's indispensable to the show, so there's an excuse to have them appear, but not so indispensable that you wonder why you don't see them more often.

"This is the art of camouflage!"
Sometimes I jump so quickly into giffing that I forget to comment... yeah, this was a fantastic episode where everything clicked just right. New-Liz works much better than s4-Liz

The DJ called it a 'sweet lid'.

I love Jack's comment that if his son needed advice and he wasn't around to go find Liz Lemon and do the exact opposite of what she said. And maybe I'm dense, but when Jack found out he was having a daughter, did Liz being on the video signify the same advice (she should do the opposite) or that he didn't think his daughter warranted the same sort of advice a son would need? Or I suppose, it could just be more superficial than that, and Jack just didn't know what to say to a girl.

I think that's what it was, only that he realized that having Liz on the video was a bad idea the moment she opened her mouth.

I love the first scene with Elizabeth Banks and her close-up, "And they will be left WANTING!"
It was my impression he was turning the mike over to someone who (a) he could trust and (b) could get into all the messy Girl Stuff he doesn't understand.

"I think it's nice to occasionally splurge on a straight-razor shave..."

At the top, he qualifies Liz's input as being necessary only if the child doesn't come out looking like Avery.
Loved the return of Dr. Spaceman! Even if he only had a couple lines, they were pretty damn good...

"I've administered the epidural. Would you like one as well?"
The Baldwin praise is well deserved, but I haven't laughed this hard at Tracy in a while. I thought he was the MVP of this episode:

'And good for you Liz Lemon. There's something about you lately... makes me want to put my feet in your mouth.'

'Centennial is a hundred years, because centipeding means having sex with a hundred women.'

"The capital of the United Arab Emirates is Abu Dhabi. I only know that because if I go back there, they will execute me."
Just so we round out absolutely everything Jack said on his videos, I want to note that when Jack was voted "Most" he was attending Harvard on a handsomeness scholarship.

I love it when this show is just "on".

So much funny stuff in this one. But I think the Brian Williams and Andrea Mitchell tag team was the funniest.

Also much love to Jack demonstrating a punch on Lutz.
"You coming downstairs?"
"And stand outside in the crowd like some Italian? I don't think so."

Also: "I will begin with our shared history: The Donaghys originally come from Ireland's little know county Steve, where historically we were whisky-testers and goblins."
Leo Spaceman's "You just described my morning!" another in an episode literally made of jokes.
Tracy was on fire.

Enjoyed the dig at NBC cancelling Law And Order. The rest? Not that much.

"Duh-NAWLED Glover."

Lots of great meta jokes tonight.

Although Community has become my first love, I have to say that 30 Rock has been on fire the last two weeks and has bested Community twice now.

I think they're using Jenna in just the right amounts this season. "Just like Mickey Rourke did with my sexuality."

I'm surprised to find myself in agreement with you. 30 Rock has just had some really smart writing these last two episodes, and while I still think Community is amazing I'm getting a little tired of them focusing on Jeff's narcissism/redemption arcs.
I enjoyed the episode for the most part, but Kenneth has gotten fucking unbearable.
Everything minus Kenneth was aces. "Rhubarb, Rhubarb, Rhubarb. Peas and Carrots."
The "White" and "Colored" gag was so beautifully set up.

And Kenneth gets a pass for singing, "Everyone born before Jesus is in hell."
The Freddy Krueger cold open was great, but the show has always had the best cold opens. Even when I wasn't watching the show I'd still catch the opening at the tail end of the Community recording and get a pretty good laugh.

The white/colored recycling bins joke was my favorite moment of the episode. Perfectly set up.
The whole episode was awesome. But I think the Law and Order digs were my favorite, "It's a tentpole...TENTPOLE..."

Also.."oh no el Tejon face"

That did make me laugh, but unless something interesting happens soon, there's no reason for Kenneth to be a regular character anymore.

Loving the ongoing digs at Mickey Rourke.

God, I hope those were two separate incidences . . . But, I'm thinking not.

Really? Everyone liked this one? Liked the Latifah character, or the Kenneth/Jenna shtick, or the talking dog show, which I'm pretty sure is a joke Family Guy has done a couple fo times?

I liked the black public access show, but I didn't love it.
Yeah, a lot of this episode fell flat for me. But thankfully, they seem to have fixed the one thing that bugged me the most last season: Liz Lemon. I find myself again enjoying her storylines over the others.

"Lemon, if you're about to say that you don't get any respect, you're right. I mean, in a post-apocalyptic world how would society even use you?"
"Traveling bard?"
"Radiation canary."

"After what I just saw, you may be the only person here I respect. You get an 'I met a congresswoman' sticker."
