A Perfect Circle Fall tour...

Not sure how many fans there are here. But in case you hadn't heard, they're back and doing a short Fall West Coast tour. Five cities, three shows each city (except for Las Vegas) where they will play one album in its entirety each night (and surely some encores? Because the albums aren't all that long).

A Perfect Circle tour dates:
11/4, Tempe, AZ (Marquee Theatre) *
11/5, Tempe, AZ (Marquee Theatre) $
11/6, Tempe, AZ (Marquee Theatre) #
11/8, Los Angeles, CA (Avalon) *
11/9, Los Angeles, CA (Avalon) $
11/10, Los Angeles, CA (Avalon) #
11/12, Seattle, WA (Showbox at the Market) *
11/13, Seattle, WA (Showbox at the Market) $
11/14, Seattle, WA (Showbox at the Market) #
11/16, San Francisco, CA (The Fillmore) *
11/17, San Francisco, CA (The Fillmore) $
11/18, San Francisco, CA (The Fillmore) #
11/20, Las Vegas, NV (The Pearl) *
11/21, Las Vegas, NV (The Pearl) $

Playing...
* = Mer de Noms
$ = Thirteenth Step
# = Emotive

Tickets go onsale for most shows this Friday. Apparently San Francisco goes onsale Sunday. Check Ticketmaster for times, blah blah and all that.

Seen these guys twice, and each time was fantastic.

That's code for "Bring your wine making ass back east, Maynard."

Yes yes. "The East Coast is the better of the two coasts."

Never seen them live. Would love to, especially for Thirteenth Step. I thought they were quits, so I suppose this is good news even if I can't catch them this time.

They're very, very good live. They have a really strong knack for both tweaking the album versions either a little or a lot where applicable (seek out the live version of The Nurse Who Loved Me if you can, it's awesome), as well as creating a great flow where one song will just launch right into the next. Although, they still find plenty of time to joke/chatter*.

They've all hinted that there will likely be more tracks available (probably trying to stay away from full on albums and take more of a singles-release approach) in the future. Maynard himself hinted that he'd like to do more of a full on, 7-week tour at some point. I'd welcome this, but I also want that new Tool album to get here sooner than later. Whatever it takes though, I suppose. I'd rather the artistic creativity thrive however it has to.

I think I'm going to take a vacation out to San Francisco to catch these shows and enjoy one of my favorite cities. I'm due a vacation about now.

*On that note, Maynard is normally far more talkative at these shows than with Tool. Both approaches are band-appropriate I think.

A million times this. I dont hate the album version with the fire some do, but the live one is a perfect hybrid.

Having said that, second time I saw them, Mini-Kiss opened for them. No one escaped that twenty minutes not embarrassed.

Gonna have to look up the live "Nurse Who Loved Me". I think the only live track I've heard of theirs was one of the Tapeworm songs that they had for free on their site forever and a half ago.

I was curious, so I looked up Mini Kiss. They don't even play their own instruments?! Bah!

I really enjoy the album version. I was however, floored in the best possible way when they bust into the drums live.

That one's on eMotive. "Passive" is the name. Great track, though I'd KILL to hear what him and Trent had going.

They also famously covered "Fred's Slacks," the Will Ferrel song from SNL.

Oh cool I wasn't aware that they ever did a studio version of it, and I own eMotive. It's been a long time since I heard the live version.

Sadly that Tapeworm stuff will probably never leak. I would love to hear what Trent was cooking up with Zack Del La Rocha as well.

They also did a mash-up cover of the Cure's "Love Song" and Ozzy Osbourne's "Diary of a Madman" that is pretty flippin' awesome. There's plenty of versions out there. Just google "Ozzy's Cure."

Bought a few bottles when he was hawking them a few months back in Orlando. Yeah, he needs to not quit his day job.

Yeah. Now... I've heard a live version of it from the Mer De Noms tours, and it sounded significantly different from the version that ended up on eMotive. It's similar, but if you didn't recognize it that could be why.

Personally I think they improved on it.
