HIMYM season 6 - Page 2

I agree on the Forte bit except for the nose bleeding. I thought that was played to great success and I remember one scene absolutely killing me with a nose bleed.

Great episode. Very funny. Lots of emotion, and did anyone catch the mention of the half rat half cockroach in the New York Times? Excellent callback.

And Marshall's too nice to do it, but somebody should have called Lily on her BS. She wants to live in a nice apartment in Manhattan with two kids and have enough money to spend a fortune on designer clothes while working as a kindergarten teacher and she's appalled by the idea of Marshall selling out for a well-paying job that will keep his (future) family secure? Lily, I love you, but grow up.

This was a great episode that moved the character's plots along for Barney and Ted. Ted is at his best when he is more silly than serious, last night's episode just worked great.

poo poo.
Agreed. Ted's new name was hilarious, and his reaction to the gentleman with the monocle just about killed me.
I'm glad whats-her-face from House is getting work - but are we really supposed to buy her as a serious love interest? She's been unbearably annoying so far.

Loved Smulders casually sauntering around in an animal pelt with a spear.
Smulders has been absolutely KILLING it this season, and there haven't even been any major Canadian jokes yet. I love that they were still touching things after they got pulled into the office.

Also love that The Captain memorized Ted's new nickname after hearing it once.

That was a reference to Hands on a Hardbody with the sarcophagus, right?

Lily's reaction seems especially hypocritical considering that Marshall initially took the GNB gig in part to cover her credit-card debt.

"That's OK-- College Lily thinks those were orgasms."
I think the point was that they both were kind of hypocrites. The "CORPORATE MARSHALL - EXTINCT" was a nice touch.

"Does it cost half as much as glasses?"
I am digging the Arcadian story arc this season. The show is better when Ted has a good storyline to anchor the other's antics. Cameron from House was looking hot in that black dress and diamonds.
The Captain's wife isn't going to turn out to be the Mother, is she? It seems like the show is building her up to being that, but I don't think she would have been Rachel Bilson's roommate from last season if she was married to McLachlan's character.

If she turns out to be another serious relationship for Ted, I hope it doesn't last too long and they can actual develop the relationship with the Mother.

It was established previously, during the Sarah Chalke arc, that if the mom was blonde the kids would be blonde.

I recall that being part of the fake-out in the pilot, that Ted's kids look like miniature versions of Ted and Robin.

More Sparkles!

What a great episode!

I was wrong about Ted being the best man at Barney and Robin's wedding. It still looks like those two will get back together.
I laughed as hard as Ted and Barney did to the how much wood can a beaver eat over the weekend math problem.

Still doesn't explain why Marshall is in the wedding party in the premiere.

Maybe Punchy becomes friends with all four of them.
All of the Space Teens clips were fantastic. And that beaver song is really catchy. Awesome episode.
As a Canadian I found this episode just insulting.

People in space solving crime through math is not the way we do things in Canada.

Everyone knows we get human kangaroos hybreds to solve our crimes using math.

best spit take I've seen in a while.

I like that we finally found out why a pop singer had a robot sidekick.
So I was watching the Sandcastles in the Sand episode today where James Van Der Beek guest stars and I totally forgot that Punchy(played by the same actor) is introduced in it.

Nice continuity, guys. Impressive.

Good catch!

Jorge Garcia as Blitz took a while to get used to, but by the end of the episode I was like Awwww Man!
Man did I love that episode. Corny with all of the "inside" jokes, but still handled well enough. Anyone think Garcia was channeling his inner Belushi?

Either way, I found this episode to be classic.
Yep. Best episode this season.

Barney as Blitz for a day was incredible.

Loved the episode, but that struck me as odd. Isn't Turducken (Turkey stuffed with duck stuffed with chicken) a thing in America.
Yeah a Turducken is a real thing here (shudder) but I think that's part of the joke. Like, instead of being creative with different dead fowl, it's just ANOTHER turkey.

"It just tasted...wrong".

Smulders in KISS makeup. And the inevitable reveal of how that happened.
Smulders in underwear on the cover of a couple magazines this (last?) month. Haven't checked out the inside, but from the checkout line at 7/11 she looks great.

Wow last night's episode was a clunker. a stinker. not good.
What didn't you like? It was very well structured, and I liked the runner about the Barney/Lily story coming together.

Also, a Great Gatsby reference for the Captain. Anyone else catch it?

3 storylines.
Ted and Captain. Boriing.
Barney and Lily. Pointless except that we now know Lily gets pregnant.
If Robin and Marshall really don't have much chemistry together, why do a storyline about it?
You didn't like the unreliable narrator stuff? The characters waiting onscreen for Saget to remember what they actually said?

And c'mon, Robin as a sexy manatee.
It wasn't brilliant but it was pretty damn funny.
In general I don't like the fact that Ted is friends with Zoe.

I mean I think we all see where this is going (at some point Ted and Zoe are going to cross a relationship line). Also I thought the ticking clock was unnesecariy. We all know that Ted does not see Zoe as a manity, just married and a bit crazy.

I did like the unreliable narrartor stuff though with the actors just waiting for Sagat to remember what was said. Though one has to question considering he wasn't in the room how he knows any of this stuff in the first place.
The more you apply real-world logic to the whole narrator telling his kids stuff, the more it falls apart. I liked the meta-ness of the actors in the scene waiting for the narrator etc, but I hope that's all we see of that kind of stuff.

I like these episodes when they realize they are just Seinfield selfish douches and need some head readjustment. Ted was the voice of reason in this Christmas tale and it worked great.

Barney's Oprah giveaway was hilarious. Very fun episode.

Was that actually Sagat in that episode? It sounded more like someone doing a vague Sagat impression, but I'm fairly sure it was NOT him. Maybe he had a cold or something, I don't know, but the voice was pretty off.
Really fantastic episode last night. Easily my favorite of the season so far.

As much as I love this show, it would be better if the VO was done by Sagat.

Turns out the mother is Cammy.

Love the way the scene of Marshall and Lily getting the news got recontextualized.

Also, Punchy is growing on me:
"I can't do this! I can't get married!"
"YES YOU CAN YOU LOVE HER!"
"You're right I do! Thanks!"

Was the DiBiase Suit a shout out to the WWF's Ted DiBiase, aka The Million Dollar Man?

That's how I got it, but there was no payoff to the reference.

Except that we can infer that Barney's bonus had six zeros, without a decimal point.

Robin in glasses. HOT!

Robin doing hand farts. Hot and sexy!
Wow, that ending broke me. Jason Segel has always played Marshall as an emotional dude that wears his heart on his sleeve, so him sobbing that he wasn't ready for his dad to be gone broke my heart. I love Tammi and Eric on Friday Night Lights, but Marshall and Lily are TV's other great married couple.

I'm loving Ted this year. He's been really funny. Cracked me up the way he kept kicking the air.
