AN AMERICAN GODZILLA THAT LOOKS LIKE GODZILLA AND FIGHTS MONSTERS! - Page 2

Because there's already the '54, '85, and '98 films where it's just Godzilla on the loose destroying a city. And we just had CLOVERFIELD. At this point it would be sort of like making a new Superman movie where he just lifts stuff and fights Lex Luthor again (oops). I say they get a little crazier with it.

EDIT: I realize this doesn't sound like a very good argument considering there are already tons of movies with Godzilla fighting other monsters too, so wouldn't that be even more redundant? I guess all I'm really saying is I find those to be more enjoyable, unless they're going to pull off something with as much pathos as the original GOJIRA (highly unlikely).

Man in the Suit.....and...in 3-D?!

Keep the Dream alive....

Basically, if you don't like the idea of Godzilla fighting another monster, I'd suggest you're really not a Godzilla fan. Which is fine and dandy. It probably means you might be a normal person.

Of the 28 films Godzilla has been featured, he only went it alone 3 times. And one of those times he at least got to battle a giant floating laser tank. Giant monsters battling other giant monsters or giant robots is just the way Daikaiju films are. It would be like making a Sherlock Holmes movie without a mystery to solve, or a Die Hard movie without an explosion.

Why have Godzilla fight another monster? Because like cookies and naked women, it's just better when you have two! Plus, everyone already knows Godzilla, it'd be a great way for them to introduce American audiences to a member of Godzilla's rogue gallery.

I really don't think they'll import Godzilla's rogue gallery. The Big Five (Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, and Rodan) all feature seperate licensing fees.

Well, the design stays true to his origin, IN THAT US FILM ONLY.

ZING!

Yeah, Kate, you are aware that Godzilla was only an irradiated Iguana in that one movie, right?

Fuck using CGI creatures, go practical all the way!

They should just make the movie exactly the same way Toho has been doing it for decades, just put a big budget into those same effects techniques. I would love to see someone use a highly advanced Godzilla animatronic/man-in-suit and some good old fashion model work. I think they should only use CGI sparingly, like to enhance the sense of scale or for touch ups on on the suits.

I'm also not sure I support the idea of Godzilla fighting another monster, I just don't see how you could do a gritty and realistic monster film when the world you've chosen to depict is crawling with monsters a' plenty. Better to restrict the confrontations to members of the human military, IMHO (PS I saw a bunch of Godzilla films growing up so while I can understand the attraction of monster on monster combat, I just don't think it would work in the year 2010 AD)
There is a reason I don't talk about quantum physics. Its because I don't know shit about it. I suggest you do the same with Godzilla movies.
