I really have no idea how people could hate this movie. I can't wait to see it a second time.

Jesus, launch date in theaters for this over here is DECEMBER 1ST..

Wouldn't it be so very 21st century to get rid of that outdated regional release system?

Indeed, the movie is flawed and no classic, but it is a very solid piece of entertainment; when it works, it works well; Winstead is simply adorable, etc...but you'd think it's Vampires Suck by the negative reaction we've seen

I can't wait to see it a first time. At least I can take solace in the fact that October is almost here.

What's a good site to check for the exact details on the extras?

No shit, and while they're at it maybe they can get rid of region coding on media.

Wait, there are people that didn't like Scott Pilgrim?

October 12 baby! Wooo! Mere months after it was released in the civilized world.

Someone should really sort international rights and release schedules. The situation is ridiculous.

If you're being serious, I'm sort of baffled. My "it's OK" take is well-documented in the Post-Release thread; I think it's an amazingly produced, directed and constructed film, but ultimately feels hollow to me. I liked it, but far from loved it, and really don't have any desire to see it again.

However, I can see people hating it. It's a very generational film; I can easily see 50somethings - and I don't mean Joe and Jane 6 Pack - being baffled, or bored, or frustrated by the film. I don't think it deserves the hate, to be clear - but it's not a film that lends itself well to moderate reactions, either.

The film it reminds me of - both in novel approach and in reactions - is MOULIN ROUGE. Which I unabashedly love - but I fully understand why people hate it. I think they're horribly, horribly mistaken, but I can understand it.

I don't know if I'd call them ... "people".

Yeah, I was really bummed that I couldn't find another screening of this around anywhere in L.A. until the Oct. 1 midnight showing at the New Beverly, so this is good news. Lot of people I want to show this to.

But "it was OK" really pretty much was the low end of the spectrum for people who actually went to see it. I'm sure someone hated it, but my impression from forum-trawling was that most everyone found it at least technically impressive and modestly enjoyable.

The problem was a lot of people just hated the idea of it or the previews or something and never went to see it in the first place.
