I am against the casting of DiCaprio in the role:
1) I think Eastwood's films have trended towards stilted awards bait recently, and as I stated in a previous post about another article on this film, the subject of Hoover requires a fire brand film; an Oliver Stone. I'd also rather not see DiCaprio fall into the Eastwood black hole the way Mr Damon has.
2) With that said, I'm ok with Mr Phoenix taking the gig. He needs to prove 'he's still here' after the embarrassing public debacle that played out over the past few years. Do I doubt his skills as an actor? Of course not. I doubt that I can believe him on screen again. On that note, a throw away Eastwood awards bait flick might be the perfect vehicle for him to flex his muscles in and remind me why I found him interesting in the first place
