Raising Hope

Ok, so I guess I'll bite the bullet on this one, since most people decided to write this show off based on the commercials.
I watched the pilot and loved it. Garret Dillahunt and Martha Plimpton are great in this. I'm willing to give it a season pass.

I really enjoyed it. A lot more than Running Wilde, which surprised me because I love Arrested Development and was eh on My Name Is Earl.

Dillahunt and Plimpton are fantastic, especially Plimpton, and they will likely be able to carry me through even dud episodes. I liked pretty much every joke. It wasn't always laugh out loud funny, but it always put a smile on my face.

I thought it was pretty great. I had been looking forward to it. I've always like Plimpton in pretty much everything she's done, so I'm happy she's going to be playing this character for a bit. Dillahunt is, of course, the man.

Went into this semi-wary. I liked Earl in a "occasionally catch this on syndication" kinda way, and I wasn't sure what kind of humor it was gonna go for, but I really liked it. Like Weasels said above, maybe not always hilarious (though it often was. Loved the serial murderer baby mama), but entirely enjoyable.

The question is how long it will last.

At least in the pilot, the rhythm is way off. Dillahunt and Plimpton are great, but I'm not sold on the lead kid. Impressed that they went there with the electric-chair scene.

I was a fan of Earl, so my favorite bits were (a) TV news reporting on a reformed criminal working through his list of bad deeds (cut off before we can learn how that turned out), and (b) the earlier bit where the kid sits down to compose a plan for his future and we think he's going to make a list like Earl did but instead he draws himself as a superhero riding a giant bird. Sometimes silly is enough.

I'm picky about my tv, but this looks like something I might enjoy. Missed the pilot, but saw some clips online earlier. You guys know better than me already, but it already looks like a hit-and-miss comedy that could go a long way on its charm and good characters. If it's well written, it'll be worth watching. Whether or not it stays on tv for long is another story.

Really enjoying this show and it was nice to see "Gooch" from Scrubs again (I know she was on something else, but that's where I know her from).

I tried to watch this and got halfway through. I love Dillahunt and wanted to like it, but I burned out fast and my wife (who is not even close to picky) burned out right after me.

Characters with dead teeth must be in this season. First there was Maureen Ponderosa on It's Always Sunny and now this show's got that Garfunkel and Oates chick sportin' one.

I didn't hate it and am willing to stay onboard to see if it can find it's groove. Having Kate Micucci in anything earns tremendous goodwill from me.

Big leap in quality with the Halloween ep. Among other things, Dillahunt as the dad finally came into focus as a character.

Also, Shannon Woodward in a Robin outfit. And I love the gag that Jimmy's half-assed Batman costume turned out to be a near-perfect copy of the boyfriend's half-assed Batman costume.

Nice way to work around not having Leachman on set this week. Dillahunt fiddling with the beer-bong was amazing.

The Christmas episode was excellent. Nice work.

Still love.

The taser gag. So unexpected, and unexpected again. And I like that they're giving Leachman more 'lucid' scenes to play.

Watched this with my wife tonight, and I'm the only one in the house that got one of the inside jokes--they pulled a hooker out of a car to get her to come gamble (long story--see the episode), and then her client came stumbling out.  It was none other than Tim Stack, dressed as his character "Notch Johnson" from "Son of the Beach."

Also, the kid that plays the father of Hope had on a "Bayside Tigers" t-shirt.  This is a pretty funny show.

Patty the Daytime Hooker and TV's Tim Stack both were recurring characters on My Name Is Earl, Greg Garcia's previous show. Awesome to see them again.

Usually, I can't stand "Character constructs enormous, impractical ruse to cover for stupid lie," but man that was good. Hope they can find a way to keep Ashley Tisdale around 'cause she was on fire. "Aaand scene... within a scene!"
