"Everything I do in life...I do things to try and get her back. I believe if I do enough things...maybe she could come back.....yeah, I think that's what I'm doing."-Eddie Izzard talking about his mother who died when he was 4.
Ostensibly, this was a film dealing with Eddie Izzard trying to develop new material after being off the road for three years. What the film turned into was an extremely touching portrait of arguably one of the greatest comedians living today. Everyone who has become famous has had to start at the bottom and work their way up, but the amount of times Eddie was knocked down, the amount of people who told him he would never make it, and the sheer amount of crap he went through to become who he is today is truly remarkable.
I've recently become a fan of Eddie's and this film did a lot to further cement him as not just a great comedian, but a great person as well. He's incredibly driven, exceedingly tough and amazingly resilient.
Do yourselves a favor, catch this if you can. It's on epixhd.com (the same place you can see Louis C.K.'s "Hilarious") so you can catch it with your seven day free trial. It's loaded with early clips of Eddie, behind the scenes photos and it's just a great all around documentary.
