"Townspeople?"

Sensational episode, everything just clicked. Phil's "son of a..." with the mic on cracked me up.

I found Mitchell's story to be the least entertaining, but it did make perfect sense for his character.

It's such a cheap joke, but I died laughing every time Phil got scared from the skeleton in the front yard, especially the last time when Claire called him out on it.

For some reason, I was convinced that the neighbor subplot was something Claire cooked up to freak out Phil. I kept waiting for something else to happen with Phil, though his constant hanging-on with Claire were pretty funny.

"I'm just saving you from being asked 'Do you have a rough tongue?' all day from all the boys."

Tandoori turkey for Thanksgiving sounds pretty delicious.

Gloria's American voice was scary as hell.

I loved this exchange between Phil and his neighbor, along the lines of:

Neighbor: "I don't even remember the sound of her laughter..."
Phil: "Oh, Claire can do it..." (stops)

I waited all episode for that payoff. I just knew Claire was messing with Phil. Oh well.

Fun episode.
Anybody else find it strange that Claire would be the one to be super into Halloween? Seems right up Phil's alley.
It was. Remember Claire's story about their first date (or a date) at a horror film that cemented their relationship?
"See? Yesterday's lazy cures today's crazy."

Classic.

Shit i was turned on BADLY by each and every one's of Haley's costumes.
Relax, she's legal.

I'd like to know how many people googled to find out that info last night at around 9:03.
Oh good, I won't have to be the pioneer dirty old man in this. Never have I been so relieved at knowing random ass trivia about stuff as when when Haley walked in with that 'cat costume'.

Otherwise, great episode. The cut to Mitchel going down the wall on the drainpipe and Phil constantly falling for the coffin prop were the highlights.
My dad and I both lost our shit at Mitchell's "He's here....He's here!" followed by the shimmying down the drainpipe, then setting off the car alarms. That was simply amazing.
The box full of baby Jesuses damn near killed me.
this was one of the best 22 minutes of traditional sitcom work i have seen in a looong while.
And nobody mentioned Mitchell in actual Spider-Man pose on the toilet (tiptoes on the seat, fingertips on the sides of the stall)? Turn in your geek cards.
Well, we thought that was obvious.

Sorry, I burned my lady fingers.
Claire scooting away from Haley in bed after she tells her boyfriend "Stop freaking out, it's not coming true." was priceless.
Pretty fun ep all around. Luke trying to eat a lady finger through his helmet made me LOL.
Yeah, Luke trying to eat the cookie through the helmet nearly killed me.

Savezilla was pretty funny. But the baby swapping gag was really telegraphed.

Also, Phil asking to wear the helmet for a while.
Cute one. My first thought was that Jay was playing Manny with the "my kid" routine, and that we would get a talking head about it. I'm glad we didn't.
Jay breaking Manny's vow never to speak to him again with "Knock knock" was just perfect.
Will Claire have to go out and get a job now that the real estate thing isn't working out for Phil and where was Alex in this ep.? Funny ep. overall, as usual.
I didn't find this one overly hilarious, but it definitely had some funny moments. What's great about this show is that it can be touching without being syrupy or contrived. I appreciated seeing Phil's "happy go lucky" shell being dropped, allowing him to have a vulnerable moment, and Claire being the one to comfort him, when it's usually the other way around. I thought Jay's speech to Manny at the end was a great moment as well.

I love that the show doesn't have to be hilarious all the time but still be a great show due to how well the characters are written.

Just bumping this to clear up the confusion in the Season 1 thread.
No new episode tonight, righT?
Nope. Country Music Awards. Yee fucking haw.

Bahahaha! Best flashmob ever!
The Sofia Vergara gif crowd is gonna have a field day this episode. Yikes.
Great ep. I actually enjoyed all three story lines. The flashback to the cabbie was great, as was the girls making Phil cry which in turn made them cry. "You called me daddy." "Because you are my daddy." "Wahhhh!" Sofia going nuts with the BB gun was fantastic.

So I wasn't the only person that noticed she was extra bouncy tonight?
"I could have unbuttoned your shirt!"
Vergara fucking SLAYED this episode.
Oh yeah, her with that BB gun was just fierce.

And I loved the matching "Oh come on, Luke!" and "Come on, Phil!"
I only got into Modern Family recently (I was a little afraid/resentful of its success whereas my beloved Community has struggled), but I have been pleasantly surprised and I am really enjoying it so far. Last night's episode in particular was aces; as a parent of three daughters, I was really tickled by the scene of Phil & the girls having a crying fit in the car; the slow build to it was hilarious. I initially disliked the Mitch/Cam plot, but the flash mob climax was awesome.

Oh man I think I love Murder...wait...

Anyway, loved all the stories, and Sofia was great with the gun. That last shot (heh) was incredible. Did she hold it gansta style?
Dr Murder is so damn clutch.
I can't claim to making those ones, but I would've if I hadn't seen them elsewhere. Everybody Loves Gloria's Boobs.
In that first one, you can almost see her thinking, "Damn, I'd better slow down or we're gonna have to move this episode to HBO."
Best episode of the season for me. Everyone was just on point and destroying every scene.
The Phil breakdown was probably one of the funniest and sweet things i saw on tv this year. "I've been dreading the day you outgrow me"

Luke's "he'd need me more" was just as amazing. Sofia was indeed incredible with the gun.
"So have you've had the chance to listen to that song yet?, got seven minutes?"

Phil's stealing each episode. Where the hell was Ty Burrel before this? (besides Dawn)
The tag at the end with him throwing that sweatshirt away was the perfect capper.

He was also Betty Ross' boyfriend in The Incredible Hulk.

I have the feeling this might slowly turn into the Phil Show, though.
Not as long as Ed O'Neill is on the show.
Not as long as Gloria's boobs are in this show
post #98 of 179
They had a very subdued outing after the extravaganza last week.
im obviously stating the obvious...but that woman is all kinds of fine...
