NEW POTTER FILM GETS A TRAILER, WE GET GOOSEBUMPS

And so it begins...

It really looks stunning.
When the series began, i wasn't a big fan. Never read the book, found the first couple of movies boring. But after 3 hit and Cuaron turned the series around, they have become really great. One of the all time best franchises in my regard. Keeping the entire cast and feel of the universe for 7 (well, 8) films and elevating the quality with each installment is unheard of.

Agreed on all counts.

But you should really, REALLY read the books.

I don't know. I'm a fan of both of Yates entries in the series but something feels off about that trailer. There is something about the staging of his compositions that I feel is lackluster. I've watched that trailer three times now and I can't really articulate why it doesn't work for me.

I really dug the last trailer though.

More John Hurt and... Nighy is in this? Awesome.

I'm glad we've got something so brazenly epic going on. Thats always fun. And it's nice to know from the books that it would be very difficult for them to fuck it up.

Tati, however much you like the films the book are better, I can't recommend them highly enough. These next two films will blow you away.

The excitement keeps building for me on this one. The beauty of the cinematography keeps amazing me. I also can't wait to hear Desplat's score!!

I've never read the books either, but I'm planning on taking all of them on our next deployment.

The movies do just keep getting better and better. This one looks great.

I think the movies are getting better in part because they have better source material to work with. I'll echo the suggestion to read the books. Like the films, get past the simplicity of the first two and you'll be rewarded with better writing, more mature themes, etc.

I thought Part 1 is supposed to be a slow build-up for the action and climax that will erupt in Part 2, but this trailer looks very action-packed and not ho-hum at all. I'm now quite excited about this flick and it looks like it will be amazing.

Holy shit, this is gonna be amazing.

There is a huge action sequence in the first quarter of the book.

Spoilers ahead:

If I had to guess, it looks as if the first movie will end with the escape from Malfoy Manor and the second will start just prior to the assault on Gringotts.

Dont know if youve read the books or not, but non-spoiler spoilers:

MAJOR deaths start racking up within the first four chapters of the book and if loblaw's prediction is spot on, and it does make the most sense, it ends with a couple more, plus a torture. There's just a stretch where it's just Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the run that made the story spin its wheels a while. But the first half is far from dull.

I'm thinking the latest point they could end pt. 1 is a cliffhanger with the heroes being snatched. There really isn't any down time between Gringotts and the finale, so if you don't open at Malfoy's, you either have to stretch the planning of the heist out for an entire first act, or release a very oddly paced mega-blockbuster. Does anyone really want to spend 30 minutes at Shell Cottage?

I don't know that any of the deaths in the book qualify as MAJOR, but for the material, they are certainly effective enough in raising the stakes. Yates has his work cut out for him in that department; the people who take the loss are by and large those whose development has been most short-changed by the Darwinian struggle for screentime in the flicks.

It'll be interesting to see where they cut it.

While I'm not as excited as some for this, as usual with Potter films I'm very keen to see what shape the adaptation takes. That trailer looks promising.

The split point was announced a while ago, and the test screening in Chicago a few weeks ago confirmed that information.

Finally get to see Dobby again. I not a reader of the books, but it will be interesting to see how he is re-introduced and how much time is spent on that re-introduction if any.

Harley is quite right. The split comes at Chapter 24 with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand.

That tears it: I'm going to have to re-read this sucker in the next month.

Hadn't heard that. Where does Chapter 24 leave our heroes, though?

It's funny, after we watched Half-Blood Prince my wife declared "I am NEVER reading those books, ever!"

A year or so later having had the books forced upon her she saw that trailer and exclaimed "That looks like the best film ever!"

I'm fairly certain Harry's last line in Part 1 is in the trailer.
They really know how to cut trailers to these movies. I haven't read past 4 yet, and am going to wait until the movies are finished before I do, but man oh man, that is some epic level shit right there.

Going back to the original trailer released earlier this year, I am convinced that Harry's line of "Because I have something worth living for." was better than most of the rest of the films this summer. Am so very looking forward to these movies. My how they have matured.

Have we ever gotten a film series that's actually gotten BETTER with time?
This looks great, and I'm saying that as someone who has not read the books and does not like the previous films (sans 3, and what I've seen of 5).

Agreed. What is even more amazing is the fact that entries 3-6 actually improve the first two movies when you go back to watch them.

As fanboy as it may be, this is my most anticipated movie of 10 and 11
