The comments on the article page so far are hilariously highbrow. Come for the shit-eating, stay for the WW2-era European dictatorial politics lesson. The irony is that if you wrote an article about WW2 politics, the comments would say, "Eat Shit, Renn."

SALO is a tremendously challenging film, I felt ill watching it, and not simply because of the rape, torture, and shit-eating, but because of the context of it all. It's incredibly divisive, but I think it works.
