Blow the dust off of CHUD's very first list...

Great idea and a perfect list to start with. I'm actually having a ball reading through this list again.

Oh god, I had the issue of Movie Insider that this list initially appeared in. So long ago...

EDIT: I also feel the need to fill in the blank on whether or not Downey was under the influence during the making of Home For The Holidays. He said on Inside The Actor's Studio that he was completely and utterly fucked out of his head on black tar heroin during the making of that movie.

Cool revival. It's amazing how many of these are now considered geek canon. And a bunch that are still perhaps unjustly ignored. All I know is I'm putting more than a few of these in the queue.

My sarcasm did not shine through. This wasn't the first list we did by the way, but the first in the backend we could carry over.

Can't believe this was so long ago.

Jesus' Son is a great showcase of the talents of Samantha Morton, Jack Black (believe) and especially Billy Crudup. Never would have seen it if it weren't for this list.

Kissing Jessica Stein's a pretty great romcom too. Sweet, funny and one scene in particular is very touching (not a pun).

Countdown til Judas slams Top Secret! in 5....4....3...

Reading the Mike McGlone praise in the She's the One entry, it finally clicked in my head--that's where I know the guy in the Geico commercials from.

He deserves better than that.

You guys are (or were) crazy to put No Escape so high up there. It's decent. But c'mon.

I think this may be the first thing I ever read on CHUD and probably what got me into the site in the first place. Also, I've loved every movie I've watched based partially or entirely on it being recommended through this list. Especially "To Live and Die in L.A.", "Super Troopers", "Beautiful Girls", "Point Break", "Equilibrium", and "L.A. Story", which I now own and love to watch repeatedly. I expect to find many more movies I love through this list. I watch a lot of movies on lists like AFI Top 100, IMDB Top 250, Ebert's Great Movies, etc. and more often than not, I'm disappointed. Most of the time, the movies that engage me the most are superior B-movies and genre flicks rather than prestige pictures, and CHUD has always been a great resource for the former. Thanks, guys.

D'OH! Makes sense though - 2005 seemed awfully recent.

Wow, I thought I was the only person on the planet who actually enjoys Nothing To Lose.

Okay, someone answer me this:

me and a couple friends recently watched ZARDOZ (the goofy sci-fi film with Sean Connery in a diaper and a floating stone head that vomits guns). I guess it's sort of a pop-culture meme at this point. But we thought the movie was, in fact, legitimately good. We were also high.

So: Is ZARDOZ a film that truly deserves more love? Or is our appreciation for it unduly the result of altered states?

The first time I saw that movie, I thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen. I was a teen at the time, so my standards were a little lower, but I still dig it. Just thinking about the part where Martin Lawrence complains about his ass falling asleep still makes me smile.

This is a cool list! I don't think that I was reading CHUD when it came out before (or, if I was, I missed it or I've forgotten it) and so I'll have to check it out! Thanks for spotlighting it, CHUD!

A classic.

By the way, after reading through some of the list I have to agree with Mr Elvis. It's vintage CHUD. Great write ups and excellent choices. No other site on the web would take the time to champion A KNIGHT'S TALE.. and that's precisely why CHUD is the bee's knees

This list actually helped me track down so many movies that I'd seen in my youth, that I loved, but could never remember what they were, or how to find them. Awesome.

This is the first list by CHUD I ever read. So good.

This epic old list is slices of magic, both in the choices and the write-ups. I love it.

This is such an awesome list.
