If ETS started her life as a hot topic t-shirt character, then this is about as "counter cultural" as the BATTLESHIP movie.

PS I grew up too late to be a goth and left highschool just as the whole emo thing was kicking into swing. I'm without a subculture of my own (except JCL, I guess), which sucks, but it also means that I don't really identify with Emily and am not interested in this film

I did read the article, but I guess I could have worded things differently to make that more clear. My point was that the article refers to her as part of the "counter culture" and I was refuting that given the origins of the character

I will edit my previous post and reword it
