Jeff Zucker Quits

Jeff Zucker the man who is known as one the greatest programmers NBC has ever seen* has quit. He will be replaced by former CNN president Jonathan Klein.

* In an alternate universe

Edit to add: Applogizes to everyone. One of the first stories I read on this mentioned that Klien had been recently fired from CNN but I thought they were suggest that he was to take over from Zucker. At this point nobody has been named successor. Feel bad in making such a mistake.

"Quits" should probably be placed it quotation marks.

Why would they replace an entertainment guru with a failed news programmer? It makes no sense. I don't like Zucker, obviously he needed to go, but who the fuck watches CNN these days? Am I missing something? What's the magic at CNN that NBC is so desperate to capture for it's prime time line up?

Klein better be a big fan of COMMUNITY, goddamnit.

I'd love to see Jeff Winger & Wolf Blitzer go back and forth: SUP!

Too bad this didn't happen earlier as to save L&O: Classic.

I think this is actually the biggest prick move Zucker could pull.

"How am I going to one up screwing over Conan, and cutting off one of the longest running shows in NBC history? I know! I'll quit within the year, making my decisions seem even more arbitrary, vindictive, and misguided than they did before! Muwahahahahahah!"

Too bad Zucker didn't leave a year early; Conan might've stayed on the Tonight Show if it weren't for him.

Leno's ratings are plummeting according to HUFFPO. Perhaps the entire debacle, and the current fall out (Conan more buzzed about than ever, Leno virtually universally reviled and slipping into his new found status as a television pariah) are the very reason for Zucker's exit. The conditions that forced his departure may not have existed last fall pre Conan/Leno decision.

Jeff Zucker was, without a doubt, worse at his job than George W. Bush was at his.

To be somewhat fair to Zucker, if he didn't quit then Comcast would of fired him as soon as their ownership of NBC became offical. So its not quite a dick move, more of a "don't want to look like I was fired in the public" move.

He was fired.

ETA.

He was signed on to a 3 year contract to ensure he would continue to run NBC after Comcast took over. Comcast said a big "Fuck You!" and are paying him out a severence package so they could put in their own team.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Fingers crossed his replacement immediately cancels OUTSOURCED and reinstates PARKS & RECREATION. And vows to let COMMUNITY continue until Dan Harmon and co. decide to end it.
