Smallville S10: I Still Don't Know I Can Fly - Page 4

I would just like to point out that the whole episode's superheroics were Green Arrow, Black Canary, Deadshot, and Rick Flag kicking fascist government ass while Clark stayed reluctant in the computer world.  Even Chloe got to get in on the action.  And Lois backhands hijacked Chloe-avatar while Clark does nothing but stare in indecisive confusion.

And this is the final season of the show. 

Okay, and then he flies.  But only in the computer world.

Yeah, that threw me.  Five year since she saw Lana?

Okay, those guys at the end in the web videos on the Beacon of Hope website?  Those are regular people, like a contest that let the winning "fans" have a part in an episode or something.  Right?

Oh, and a couple hundred thousand people praising superheroes?  There's only like five of them!

All snark aside, I actually liked the ending, but it was undercut by Clark not doing anything throughout the episode.  Again.  A lot of things would get easier if he would just crystal space-Gitmo some folks.  Just sayin'.

I mean, he tells Lois what's the point of appealing to the people in a political battle?  Because it's pointless?  This, this coming during what's happening in Egypt where the people got the president to resign.  I mean, c'mon Clark, you were just in Egypt like last week.  Did you miss the anti-Mubarak rallies? 

Way to be a beacon of hope, Clark.

Edit: I'm still assuming that Rosenbaum is coming back, presumably as host to Darkseid with his amped up body against Clark as Superman.  Oh, and I guess he's finally putting on the disguise, for like the third time ever?

And he's reluctant to be a hero because of how he is Clark Kent?  Newsflash boyo, Clark Kent is a douche.  Be Superman.

Now, they just need to reference Pete Ross getting vitiligo and this show's descent into becoming the comic will be complete.

Supergirl and Superboy before Superman?  C'mon Clark, get your act together.

Oh man, Lois sewed a hoodie onto Clark's bitchin' red leather jacket.  I know she's good looking, but c'mon.  There are some things that are just sacred.

And thinking back to last week's episode, evil Lex-clone's plan failed because he assumed that Clark would rush to rescue someone that he loved and dive in front of a bullet.  In other words, he assumed that Clark would act like a hero to save someone. 

Clearly, he has not been watching the last ten seasons and failed to realize that Clark wouldn't do something like that.

Edit: Hunh, a couple episodes ago cribbed from THE MATRIX, and now this one seems to crib from DATE NIGHT.  Bravo, very creative.

Wow, finally the disguise comes out?  And suddenly people start acting differently to him? 

These are crazy chances the writers are taking here.

I don't know.  I don't know if I could ever buy this guy as a nerd:

I'm fine with the conceit, but not after 10 years of Clark being The Blur without having the disguise with like half of Smallville and the federal government knowing that The Blur is Clark Kent.  That's stretching my suspension of disbelief a tad.

I would also like to point out that, like usual, Kara got the nerdy disguise before Clark did.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt that Oliver couldn't supply those things anymore since Luthor took over his company, and so they're just regular sunglasses.  I may be giving them too much credit however.

As for the mask bit, Smallville Clark Kent, the real one, is kinda a douche.  It's a better thing if Clark Kent is a disguise in this case.

Annoyed by the end speech and when people have seen too much Kill Bill.  Clark Kent isn't a disguise while Superman (The Blur) is the real thing.  The nerdy Clark and Superman are both personas, while Clark Kent, the man raised by Martha and Jonathan Kent, the man who Lois loves, etc, is the real thing.  (Of course Kill Bill is also wrong is suggesting Batman is a mask, when everyone knows its Batman that he is all the time, and Bruce Wayne is the mask.)

You mean his "micro-vision?" 

They're his powers and he can call them what he wants. 

And yes, you're right.  It was weird.

You'd think that hung over Clark super-speeding his way into a light pole would be hilarious.  You would be wrong.  Because this is Smallville.

Oh, and both Oliver and Lois refer to Clark as "walking perfection."  Seriously, Clark Kent.

Edit: "Wondrous woman who'll throw you for a loop."  Better or worse than Slade being "beyond Death's stroke."

"Clark Kent and Lex Luthor's love child."  Somewhere, a hundred slash fangirls' panties just got soaked.

I find it rather hilarious that Connor, not Alexander, comes out much more heroically minded in his first real episode than Clark has over 10 seasons.  Seriously, the first thing he wants to do is be a hero.  And this guy needs to be mentored by Clark?

Decent episode, but yet again they're expanding the Super family before Clark even becomes Superman. 

Oh, and premature heat vision while looking a Lois...you and me bud, you and me.

I don't approve of Alexander/Connor's feelings, but I understand.
 

He's still more heroic-minded than Clark is.  And Clark had a lot of heavy angst about his childhood, when, while different, he wasn't treated all that badly.  Pete and Chloe were always his friends.  And Lana accepted him too.  You know who else is the last one of his kind and actually remembers what he lost?  Martian Manhunter.  And you don't see him whining like a little girl.
 

Isn't there still a Blue Beetle episode coming up?  And there are other superheroes that seemed to have just up and disappeared, only really appearing again during that funeral thing.  I guess they're just fighting crime off-screen.

I guess since Clark is so fast, visiting Chloe and Oliver in Star City isn't that much trouble.  So, it's not that big a deal or something?

Were you listening to me, or were you looking at the woman in the purple dress?

I guess you shouldn't be looking if you're at work.

About as much superhero action as you would expect I suppose.  I imagine that they are saving up for the finale as theorized.  Though that could mean something like the last time they had a two-hour special "movie."

I think once they started to open themselves up more and start taking risks and not spin their wheels, and with the right crew changes, they improved a lot.  It's not just about getting better, but it felt like they were holding themselves back for a few seasons when Clark was even more hesitant so it makes the latter seasons seem even better by comparison.

That's what I call, pulling a "Heroes."
