NOW OFFICIAL: Devon Sawa is OFF Final Destination 2

Not that anyone cares, but there've been rumors going back and forth and when I asked one of the producers, Craig Perry, a couple of weeks ago about Sawa possibly not being on FD2, he gave me the quote, "we're exploring multiple avenues." Now it's officially come down - he's off and the movie is going ahead, likely to shoot in the fall.

And just in case you were wondering, yes, Tony Todd will also return in a small role.

While I am indeed reporting all of this, I fucking hated "Final Destination" when I came out of that screening.

Nope, I hated the final cut. When I saw what they pulled out, I thought that the original cut was even worse than the final cut.

Any word on why he is out? Just wondering. Thought he gave a pretty good perf in the first flick.

The answer being passed around will likely be he was asking for too much money.

Another answer could come from the fact that other members of the cast on the first one said he was impossible to work with.

There are even more reasons, apparently.

Wow, can't believe you didn't like it, Jack. This was one of the few surprises I got when going to see a large-release horror film. Ah well, I'm still going to use your scoop, rockstar.

Why make a sequel anyway is what I'm thinking first and foremost.

Why make a sequel? Because the first movie did well financially, that's why, silly. Is there any better reason?

<sarcasm dripping from my 'nads>

New Line needs a hit in he worst way. If they can make a "2," they can make a "3" and more money will flow. New Line's been looking for a new franchise ever since "Nightmare on Elm Street" went away as that was one of their biggest cash cows (and still is) because of merchandising and all the rest.

If you can franchise, you can get the real money.

I understand the cash cow reasoning, I was asking in the "why must they be so stupid and greedy as to make a sequel for something that DOESN'T NEED ONE" line of questioning.
