I'm sure (as in I'm hoping but not really sure) it will to coincide with the release of this new version. Which would be awesome news, because the BBC version is really great atmospheric little flick.

The original adaption has got great atmosphere, that classic unhurried British ghost story pacing, and one KILLER scare scene. I have the original withdrawn BFI/Carlton DVD and I treasure it. Am curious about the new adaption though.

I've got several rare BFI releases (Stone Tape, Ghostwatch, original Salo, etc), but Woman in Black eludes me. I hear Nigel Kneale (who's attachment is the main reason I'm so eager to obtain a copy) made substantial changes from the book, though.

You know what, I just realized I confused BFI with BFS there. Two different outfits. BFS released The Woman in Black, BFI put out some of the classic MR James ghost story adaptions (hence my confusion).

I've seen this at the theatre and it is amazingly scary, atmospheric and engrossing. A lot of it is just the main actor wandering about in pitch dark with just a small candle lighting him, some of the jump scares that come from it made quite a few people in the audience scream out loud, it was a great experience.

I really hope they can some how transfer some of that to the movie.

Did they do the potentially heart-attack inducing thing where an actual Woman in Black touches a random audience member on the shoulder during the performance?

I have heard good things about the Jeremy Dyson & Andy Nyman theatrical project "Ghost Stories". Apparently they're big fans of TWIB.
