HOLLOWAY TO CRUISE THE BIG SCREEN

Josh Holloway joins MI4

As someone who just started watching Lost, why this guy isn't drowning in film offers right now beats the shit out of me.
Yeah, he's definitely bigger than TV. Good for him on MI4.
More Sawyer on my screen is a damn good thing. He was the best thing about lost.
My main reason for wanting to see this is Brad Bird, hands down. Seeing an artist push themselves to their limit is very interesting, especially if they're as talented as Bird. Adding a solid cast with which to build a fun IM team is just icing on the cake.
This is shaping to be one hell of a cast.
MI 3 was similar in that regard. Hope this one is better in scope and characters.
I'm looking forward to the film but I think Holloway could well end up with egg on his face if the character's a departure from the Sawyer persona. I hope i'm wrong but I can't see any real talent there. I liked him as Sawyer, he's got an easy charm but I never thought that the guy deserved to break out of tv into film.

Mission: Impossible is probably one of the action franchises I like the least -- but now I have two excuses to see #4. I'm anxious to see what Bird will do, and I'm glad to see Holloway make the jump to the bigscreen. He was one of the only reasons I stuck it out on LOST. I thought he was one of the better actors, certainly more compelling than Matthew Fox.

Great news. I was just getting worried that he'd have trouble finding work after Lost due to some extreme typecasting.

Also, STEVE MURPHY.
I am excited to see him in this I just hope he does not call Tom Cruise "freckles".
I still think they should throw Holloway at the Escape From New York remake and see how he fares.
He looks Aaron Eckhart's Fabioed clone in that picture. The casting is interesting, as it seems to me to be an admission that Cruise alone is no longer a viable marketing strategy.

Holloway would've been a terrific Jonah Hex.
Great news.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that he's going to be the lead in the Rockford Files revival as well. Anyone else heard the same?
I thought that was Dermot Mulroney. Did that change?

Edit: It also didn't get picked up I believe.

Shorty.
I hope he hoards everyone else's stolen shit in his IMF office.
Odds on his character getting shirtless at some point?
Now would we prefer to see Holloway as just another member of Cruise's team? Or as a villain?

As much as I like Holloway, he's no Philip Seymore Hoffman. So if the villain part is as underwritten as the one in MI3, no thanks.

But I don't want him to be wasted on what's basically a cameo part as a member of Team Cruise.

This, though it amounts to typecasting. Wonderful typecasting, but typecasting nonetheless.

I'm not really that big on fancasting, but Josh Holloway for Snake Plissken (since a remake is inevitable) is one of those things that if it didn't happen, would feel like a tragic missed opportunity. Some of those Sawyer scenes might as well be an audition.
Holloway deserves to be in so many movies. I don't care about anything else related to MI4, he's in it and that's all that matters. If this movie turns out to be worth less than a shit, it won't be relevant at all if it propels Holloway toward more movie offers in the future.

If you like him now you should like him even more as you progress through the show. I thought he did some of his best work in the fifth season. He's great at playing badass, but he can also do the smaller, quieter moments.
I'm glad he's finally getting on the big screen. I quit on Lost not long after the start of season three but he was one of the main reasons I even stuck around that long.
I remember reading an interview with him, way back in the early days of LOST, where he was honest about being absolutely terrified about going back to the poorhouse. The nature of LOST (you might die tomorrow, Holloway, so don't buy a house!) made him even more anxious.

I'd like to think that wariness lead him to choose a script very, very carefully. Better to do Mission: Impossible 4 than the first Katherine Heigl or Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy that came his way. Sure, it's an instant paycheck, but it's awfully hard to bounce back from The Bounty Hunter even when you boast really nice abs.

Still, I hope he's not too dignified to take off his shirt in this. Or at least submit to having it sensually ripped.
Heck yes. He doesn't need to be in romantic comedies, he needs to be in badass westerns and badass action movies. Maybe even some badass sci-fi.

I'd like to know if Maggie Q and Jonathan Rhys Meyers will return in IM:4. If they don't, how would they explain their absence?
Nobody cares about them. Heheh. Ving Rhames is really the only constant. And I think Simon Pegg was supposed to return as Benji: Exposition King.

But I care about Maggie Q. Well, Maggie Q in that slinky red dress to be exact.

No no no. Naveen Andrews for Snake Plissken.
